Potatoes are one of my favorites. It's amazing how you can make different kinds of dishes out of a potato. You can mix it with different kinds of ingredients, and the outcome is still awesome. Cool, isn't it? So what if we combined the potato and an egg and made a special dish out of it?
I learned this recipe from my mama. As some of you know, she had a small eatery before, and she sells this dish in her eatery, and people love it, especially students. But her recipe is kind of different from mine. While she used corned beef as a special ingredient in her version, I use canned tuna in mine. The process is really not that different, and it is easy to make with all those easy-to-gather ingredients.
So I had a leftover potato the other day. I purposely left one big potato because I wanted to make this dish, as it's been ages since we last ate it. Originally, my version was just the plain one with potatoes and eggs as the main ingredients. It still tastes good, thanks to the help of the spices and condiments that I used. But because I want to try something else, I thought of adding Tuna, just to make it tastier.
So here are the ingredients. Simple and easy, and it's a budget meal, I tell ya, lol.
1 medium-sized Potato |
1 medium-sized Onion |
1 to 2 cloves of Garlic |
Pepper and salt to taste |
100g can of tuna (whatever brand) |
2 small egg |
Cooking oil |
So let's start by cutting all the ingredients that need cutting: the onions, garlic, and potato. You can cut them in whatever shape and size you want. You want a heart shape? Then go with it. Making it like that will surely make it more appealing if you have kids at home. As for me, I cut them in tiny sizes, just like this. Because I want it to be cooked quickly once I sauté it.
Once everything is set, we can then proceed with cooking it. We have to soften the potato, I usually just boil it, but then sautéing it is the best thing to do here, especially since we'll use canned tuna. And to season the potato while cooking, with that, we can already have a tasty potato.
After sautéing the garlic and onions, I immediately added the tuna. I just let it simmer for a second, then added a half cup of water. Then I put the potato in it and added salt and pepper. I actually put MSG on it, just a little bit to make it tastier.
And while waiting for the potato to soften, I then prepared the egg and just beat it like this. I also put some pepper and salt in it, just a little bit.
And after 10 minutes, here's now our messy, cooked potato with tuna. I want my potato to be softer, so I cook it thoroughly until it's well done.
Now we have to let it cool, but because I can't wait anymore and I just want to finish it so I can finally eat it, I used my mini e-fan to help cool it down. I put it at a higher speed. And thanks to that, after just a minute, it became warmer, and now we can finally proceed to the next step.
Next is moving the warm potato with tuna into this bowl, where our beaten egg was waiting. Easy, peasy, no? It looks like a hard and long process, but I tell you, it's not. It is the easiest and fastest dish that you can prepare, lol.
And now we're ready! All set! I just used this red sandok to scoop them easily and evenly. Now we heat the pan once again, and when it's finally ready and hot, we scoop the potatoes with eggs and start cooking them like this, and then repeat.
The shape was kind of ruined, but who cares? They will all end up in our mouths anyway, lolol. And tadaaaaa! Just wait for it to be cooked on both sides.
And now we have this perfect golden brown omelette potato with tuna. Yum, yum! You could eat it as a snack or pair it with rice. As for me, I did the latter.
Because it looks so yummy, I eat it with rice right there and then. Who wouldn't be tempted by this, right? UwU. And it tastes so good when you put ketchup on it. It's a must-try. You can eat it anytime you want. What do you say? Does it look delicious to your eyes?
