Hello everyone,
How was your day? I hope today is a good day. Today, I'm a little uninspired. Don't know why, it seems because my friends are going for a walk but I'm not invited. Maybe they are reluctant to invite me because I am alone with my sister at home. Because my parents were away for a party.

I'm confused, what activities do I want to do at home alone like this. My sister is in school. He'll be home in about an hour. I went to the tv room to watch a movie. But after a few minutes, I was bored. I immediately turned off the television and went to my room to play on my cellphone, while waiting for my sister to come home.

Not long after my sister came home. She immediately cleaned up and had lunch with me. Suddenly someone called my name. I immediately went outside to see who was calling my name. And it turns out that she is Iyem's aunt. Or my next door neighbor. She gave me a food, namely ombus-ombus. She said that he made this because there was no food. So she made it and shared it with me. Don't forget to thank her.

I took her to the dining room and told my sister that we were given ombus-ombus cake. My sister is very happy, because this is one of her favorite foods. My sister immediately took the ombus-ombus and ate it happily. I also dined with her. We spent these ombuses alone.

This ombus-ombus cake is a traditional food originating from North Sumatra. My grandmother said, people used to eat this food in hot conditions so it had to be blown, so it was called ombus-ombus cake. With materials and manufacture that is quite easy. We also often buy or make these ombus-ombus. My late grandmother was very good at making ombus-ombus.
The main ingredient to make it is rice flour, filled with brown sugar. And wrapped in banana leaves. The complete ingredients are:

  • rice flour
  • Grated coconut
  • Sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Brown sugar (as filling)
  • Banana leaves (as a wrapper)

The ombus-ombus cake is cooked by steaming. The dough is mixed well and then placed in a banana leaf with brown sugar added in the middle or in it as a core. Steamed for about 25-30 minutes. On medium heat. Indeed, it takes quite a bit of time to make. But it is also so that the ombus-ombus cake is perfectly cooked and delicious when served. You must try the local specialties. I'm sure you will be addicted when you eat it for the first time.
