Good Food Makes You in A Good Mood
Today, after doing some activities I decided to have lunch. For lunch this time I wanted something different than usual. Coincidentally, in the city I live in, namely Medan, there is a Korean food shop which is quite famous because it tastes delicious. So this time I decided to have lunch there, the name of this food shop is "Kimbab Nara".
Medan, a vibrant city in North Sumatra, Indonesia, is known for its rich cultural diversity and culinary delights. Among the many international cuisines available in Medan, Korean cuisine has gained a special place in my hearts as a food enthusiasts.
Kimbab Nara, located in the heart of Medan, offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes visitors feel like they are in Seoul. From the moment you step inside, you will be greeted by a touch of Korean hospitality, with friendly staff welcoming visitors with a Korean “welcome” and a comfortable interior that reflects the essence of Korea.
One of the highlights of Kimbab Nara is its extensive menu, boasting a wide variety of dishes that cater to different tastes. From classic Korean Kimbab to comforting stews and traditional side dishes, the menu is a testament to the diversity of Korean cuisine. For today the star of the show is, the authentic Korean version of noodle, that is Jjang - Myeon. And I also ordered Rose Tteokbokki and for the side dishe I ordered Red Odeng.
Jjajang-myeon is a Korean-Chinese dish that tantalizes the taste buds with its rich and savory flavors. The star of this dish is the thick, black bean sauce, made from fermented black soybeans and various vegetables. The sauce is velvety and umami-packed, coating chewy, hand-pulled wheat noodles. The flavor is a perfect balance of salty and slightly sweet, with a hint of smokiness. Alongside the noodles, you'll find chunks of caramelized onions, zucchini, and sometimes even beef or chicken. Because today I ordered Chicken Jjajang - Myeon, so there be some chicken in the dish. The Jjajang-myeon's comforting, hearty, and satisfying taste has made it a beloved dish among Koreans and beyond.
And the second menu I ordered is Rose Tteokbokki. Rose tteokbokki, a modern twist on the classic Korean street food, is a delightful explosion of flavors and colors. This dish combines the spicy kick of traditional tteokbokki with a creamy and savory rose sauce. The tteok (rice cakes) are soft and chewy, soaked in the fiery gochujang-based sauce that's mellowed by a creamy, slightly sweet rose sauce. This unique fusion creates a complex taste profile, featuring a hint of sweetness from tomatoes and a luscious, velvety texture. To enhance the experience, it's often garnished with crispy fish cakes and fresh vegetables, adding a refreshing crunch to the dish. The last menu is Red Odeng. Red odeng, a popular Korean street food, offers a burst of umami and a hint of spiciness that will surely entice your taste buds. The fish cakes themselves are tender and slightly chewy, absorbing the delightful tang of the sauce.
