Vegetable Sauce Like No Other😋/ Salsa de verduras como ninguna otra😋

Good morning friends✨, I hope you had a great weekend. Today, I will be showing you how I prepared my delicious and healthy vegetable sauce, rice and chicken. Vegetables are very healthy and essential for human growth.

Buenos días amigos✨, espero que hayas tenido un gran fin de semana. Hoy, te mostraré cómo preparé mi deliciosa y saludable salsa de vegetales, arroz y pollo. Las verduras son muy saludables y esenciales para el crecimiento humano.

Vegetables, are also important sources of Vitamins. To prepare the sauce, I used pumpkin leaves also known as Ugu in the Igbo dialect. Pumpkin leaves are known to have several health benefits. For example, it helps in treating wounds by serving as vitamin c and it also helps to boost the immune system. Vegetable sauce can be eaten with different varieties. Such as; Rice, yam, pasta, potatoes etc. But I chose to prepare mine with rice.

Las verduras también son fuentes importantes de vitaminas. Para preparar la salsa, utilicé hojas de calabaza también conocidas como UGU en el dialecto Igbo. Se sabe que las hojas de calabaza tienen varios beneficios para la salud. Por ejemplo, ayuda a tratar las heridas al servir como vitamina C y también ayuda a aumentar el sistema inmunitario. La salsa de verduras se puede comer con diferentes variedades. Como; Arroz, ñame, pasta, papas, etc. Pero elegí preparar el mío con arroz.

To prepare the vegetable sauce, I used a few ingredients.

Para preparar la salsa de verduras, utilicé algunos ingredientes.

Ingredients;
• Pumpkin or Ugu leaves
• Fresh tomatoes and pepper
• Blended tomatoes
• Vegetable oil
• Tomato paste
• A bulb of onion
• Curry powder(2 satchet or two tsp)
• Salt to taste
• Any spices/ seasoning of your choice

Ingredientes
• Hojas de calabaza o UGU
• Tomates y pimienta frescos
• Tomates mezclados
• Aceite vegetal
• Pasta de tomate
• Una bombilla de cebolla
• Polvo de curry (2 manchas o dos cucharaditas)
• Sal al gusto
• Cualquier especia/ condimento de su elección

Step 1:
I washed the rice to remove the starch and boiled it.

Paso 1:
Lavé el arroz para quitar el almidón y lo herví.

Step 2:
Next, I washed and steamed the chicken. After steaming the chicken, I added enough vegetable oil to the pot and fried the chicken.

Paso 2:
Luego, lavé y al vapor el pollo. Después de cocinar al pollo, agregué suficiente aceite vegetal a la olla y frí el pollo.

Step 3:
I chopped the onions, fresh tomatoes and pepper. Then I washed the Ugu leaves to remove any stone or sand.

Paso 3:
Picí las cebollas, los tomates frescos y la pimienta. Luego lavé las hojas de Ugu para quitar cualquier piedra o arena.

Step 4:
I heat the pot, and added enough vegetable oil to fry the onions and pepper. I allowed it to fry for a few seconds.

Paso 4:
Calenté la olla y agregué suficiente aceite vegetal para freír las cebollas y la pimienta. Permití freír por unos segundos

Step 5:
Then, I added the chopped tomatoes and allowed it to fry for few seconds. After that, I added the blended tomato and tomato paste and allowed it to fry for few minutes. Once the sauce became thick, I added little water and turned it. After that, I added the salt, seasoning or spices and allowed the sauce to cook for up to 5 minutes.

Paso 5:
Luego, agregué los tomates picados y le permití freír durante unos segundos. Después de eso, agregué la pasta de tomate y tomate combinado y permití que freír durante unos minutos. Una vez que la salsa se puso espesa, agregué poco agua y la giré. Después de eso, agregué la sal, el condimento o las especias y permití que la salsa cocinara por hasta 5 minutos.

Step 6:
I added the Ugu leaves to the sauce once it became thicker. I cooked it for few minutes to allow the tomatoes soak up the vegetables.

Paso 6:
Agregué las hojas de UGU a la salsa una vez que se volvió más gruesa. Lo cociné durante unos minutos para permitir que los tomates absorban las verduras.

The sauce is ready once the vegetables become soft. Vegetable sauce is very easy to prepare and it doesn't take much time. It can be eaten as breakfast, lunch or dinner.

La salsa está lista una vez que las verduras se vuelven suaves. La salsa de verduras es muy fácil de preparar y no lleva mucho tiempo. Se puede comer como desayuno, almuerzo o cena.
