Trying out something new for today's foodie episode! When I was randomly browsing online for inspirations on what I'll cook, I saw this story reel about one pan pasta. I have always wanted to try it but was a little scared that I'll not be able to pull it off. This changed when I tried this thin pasta noodles in a restaurant we dined in recently —called angel hair pasta. With this thin noodles, maybe, I'll be able to cook it properly in one pan. Haha.
From the story reel I saw, I added other ingredients based on what's currently available in our kitchen. I was hesitant to use soy sauce in this pasta recipe but I still obediently followed the one I saw online. Plus, soy sauce goes well with salmon, so I decided to give it a try.
One pan pasta: Salmon and mushroom
What's so good about cooking pasta is that the ingredients can be so different based on how you prefer it to be. For the ingredients, here is the list of what I've used:
- salmon
- butter
- garlic
- mushroom
- spinach
- onion
- parsley
- light soy sauce
- ground pepper
- sesame oil (optional)
Whenever I cook salmon, I always use sesame oil to add a sweet flavor and get rid off its unwanted smell. The spinach can also be different, you can use any greens that you prefer.
Once everything is prepared, you can already heat the pan and start the cooking!
For the first part of the cooking process, fry the salmon and set aside. This will be topped on the pasta when served. In the same pan, melt the butter and sautè the garlic and onion. In this part, I always prefer adding the ground pepper, this makes a delicious aroma as you cook. Next is to add the sliced shitake mushrooms and season it with light soy sauce. After this, add water, cover the pan, and wait for it to boil. For the last part, add the angel hair pasta and stir it from time to time to cook evenly. Since the noodles are thin, this part took only 5-7 minutes, quicker than my usual way of cooking pasta! :)
Toasted baguette: Cheese overload
Like in the usual dining setting, pasta is often paired with bread. A garlic bread is a go-to choice but I decided to try layering the slices of cheeses I bought this week. I made this toasted baguette using an air fryer, it was so convenient because it takes only 4 minutes of cooking time. I also love how the outside is crunchy and the inside of the baguette remains soft. This maybe because of the mozarella that I put on top. I also added gouda and parmesan! So it's really loaded of cheese.
