Hello again my fellow foodies and baking enthusiasts out there and WELCOME to probably the BEST Cake recipe post you will find in this here community!!

Okay, you got me. It's mostly mediocre at best :)

Anyway, so this Saturday I came across a wonderful baking channel on YouTube and saw this very eye catching recipe that well - caught my eye! And so in this video, there was this baker lady teaching how to make Tangerine cake.

Probably never heard of it huh? Yeah me too.

Moving on, upon watching said video, I knew for sure that I had to try out this cake for myself! And so, with both wallet and keys in stuffed in my pants and a couple cash on me, I ran hastily to the grocery store to pick me up some ingredients for this wonderful cake.

So, now i urge you to join me as I enlighten you in the Wonderful delights of making a Tangerine Cake.

First things first - The Ingredients

Ingredients for the Shortcrust pastry:

  • About 400g of flour

  • 200g of butter

  • 1 spoon of vanilla sugar or two if you're feeling sassy šŸ˜

  • 120g of sugar

And

  • 2 eggs.

Ingredients for the cream

  • 250ml of Milk

  • 500g of low fat quark

  • 140g of sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 60ml of oil

  • 2 small doses of tangerines

  • 2 spoons of custard powder

  • About 200g of sour cream

Oh and

  • A little vanilla flavor

So now that you know the ingredients required, we can get started on making the cake...

First things first - Let's make the Shortcrust pastry:

  • Grab a bowl (Of course)

  • Add in your measured butter

  • Then add in the 120g sugar.

  • Next, gently throw in your 1 spoon vanilla sugar or 2 if you like - lolMust be a rough day huh?

  • Then add in the 500g of flour

Before finally

  • Adding in the two eggs.

Yayy!!! Now we're getting somewhere with this recipe.

Now what I want you to do is to get your whisker(automatic or manual) and whisk up the whole thing together. Then once your done with whisking, your result should be somewhat like a thick roundish dough.

Great! Not too shabby huh? Okay, so now I want you to get a baking pan and gently use your hands to spread the dough around the pan making sure you place the dough well around the edges of the pan to get a nice cake looking shape.

Honestly, you don't have to gently spread the dough Nah... Just do what i do - Take your fists and punch in those bad boys!

Regardless, your final result should look similar to this:

Awesome we've finished with the Shortcrust pastry! Now all that is left is the cream.

Common! Let's get on with it then...

Cream Time šŸ•‘

Alright, so first of all you

  • Add in our Low fat quark into a bowl.

  • Then you add in your 120g of sugar.

  • Next, you add in your Vanilla flavor.

And finally

  • You add in the two eggs.

Then start to whisk the ingredients together

  • Now, as you are mixing the ingredients, make sure you add in the oil. Then once you start to notice the whole batter getting smoother, you can now add in your 250ml of milk.

  • Then finally, you can throw in the sour cream and those small doses of tangerines and continue whisking the batter untill you are satisfied with the texture's smoothness .

Oh you're good at this! Are you sure you're not a professional baker?...

Anyway, once you're done with whisking, you can then spread the cream onto the previous Shortcrust we had molded into the baking pan

Ahhh... Make sure you spread the cream with love if not... The cake god's are gonna come for ya :)

Lol, I'm kidding. Not...

Then, just for fun and decoration, you can cut up little pieces of tangerine slices and place them on top of the whole cake batter. The final result should look something like this:

Awesome! Now give yourself a little pat on the back, you've earned it because you're finally at the last step of this awesome Tangerine cake recipe! And all that's left now is to... SLAM THIS BAD BOY INTO THE OVEN!

Please Note: Leave the cake in the oven for about 50 minutes set at exactly 180Ā°C. You can decide to leave it in there for an hour if you'd like. That is, if you enjoy your cake a little burnt and crispy :)

Now comes the hard part - Waiting. Yup! During this time just wonder around your house: take a cup of coffee would you? Or even play Monopoly with a loved one while you wait for your well deserved treat.

Ding Ding! That's the timer. It's been 50 minutes already so now you can finally take out the cake

PLEASE USE OVEN MITTENS WHEN REMOVING THE CAKE FROM THE BURNING HOT OVEN!!!! PLEASE....

DON'T FORGET!

I DID...

Anyway, once you've taken it out of the heated oven - Your delicious Tangerine cake would now finally be ready to be served and eaten.

Heads up though: You might wanna give the cake about 10-15 minutes to cool down before consumption.

I'm not the best photographer. Sorry:)
