Thor Without His Hammer?

I’m going to start this review by telling you all a secret only my brother knows about me. I had a huge crush on Thor so many years back. And I remember my brother telling me that his hammer could only be carried by his wife so one of the things I wanted to do as a teen was to marry Thor so I could carry that hammer.

So when I heard of Ragnarok, I was very curious. You mean a 2017 action movie about Thor where he gets to be Thor but without his hammer? I really wanted to see what my “husband” was without his hammer. So this time, Thor didn’t have his hammer because of an encounter he had with his sister(my sister in law), which I’m not going to spoil for you. And right after that encounter, he got imprisoned in another world and found it really hard to go home.

First of all, the twist in this movie was just mind blowing for me because I’m not used to any twists in these action movies. Most of the time, all that I’m expecting in action movies are violence, lots of it so if the violence comes with twists, they get a standing ovation. Oh I might as well talk about the characters because without them, this movie would have been nothing. The characters in this movie deserve awards for each and every chaos they caused.

What’s a good movie without great cinematography right? Now I love the fact that even though this movie was filled with CGI, there was nothing which seemed off anywhere. The scenes were very realistic at least for me and most of the times, I found myself screaming at my tv. No! Come on! and so many other shouting.

Also, I definitely can’t forget to commend them for the storyline. I think they did great to come up with this particular story about Thor. As I said in the beginning, most of us know Thor to be mighty only with Mjolnir, his hammer and totally forget that he is the god of thunder. So I feel this was just a reminder of who Thor really is even behind Mjolnir.

Now, what I couldn’t bring myself to understand was the arrival of Hela, Thor’s sister and her whole purpose for even returning. If she was coming to destroy Asgard, which is their home and claim the throne, just to dishonor their father, then why wait till he is no more to come back.

I also think the fact that Hela displayed superiority throughout but in the end got defeated so easily was a little too raw. She could have at least been seen getting weak somewhere in the middle so it would make sense if she got defeated at the latter scenario but who am I to speak against my sister in law?

I don’t know what I learned from this movie other than unity is more powerful than we can ever think of. Oh and if you ever decide to watch this movie, make sure you don’t eye my man too much. 8/10 for this awesome movie!

This is undoubtedly the best of all the Thor movies Marvel Studios has made.

You know right!!!

Thor without Mjolnir is just, hmm, strange. But I'm more curious about that shady Loki's stand in the whole family feud.

Hehe, I’m not spoiling it.
