Rarely, do I begin a series and see through it. For the past few weeks, I have been gripped by these series, going all the way back to the first season and finally awaiting the fifth season. While I wait, I can’t pass up the opportunity to talk about how awesome of a movie this is.
Stranger Things is an American television series by the Duffer Brothers and it includes several themes such as Horror, coming-of-age, mystery, drama and sci-fi. Stranger Things is about the fictional town of Hawkins that experiences disastrous and unorthodox events after a gate to a different dimension - known as the Upside Down - is opened due to human experiments. Starring Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb Mclaughlin, Sadie Sink, Gaten Matarazzo, Winona Ryder, David Harbour among others.
What I think about the series
I began this series in 2022 but life got in the way and I just forgot about it until weeks back when I just needed to finish it. Because I was cut off for a long time, I couldn’t remember most of it and had to re-watch all of Season 1 and 2 to understand again. I am so glad I did. The best part is this time, I’m not watching it alone.
All I have to say about this series is one word, excellent! Stranger Things never had a dull moment from the minute I hit the play button on Netflix. It was from one roller coaster to the other. The mystery, thrill and drama was all balanced. From sci-fi to something of the paranormal, I watched bones crack like they did in Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, and watched teens mature and fall in love. It was like all I wanted on a platter.
Each moment was carefully thought out, every scene and every dialogue purposefully laid out block by block towards one goal, or several in this case. The twists and the dangers that lurked at every turn was an adrenaline rush to my sleep deprived soul. Sometimes, I forgot it was all a movie.
What I think about the cast

I can only make this statement thanks to the actors. From little devils to grown ass men and women, it felt really sweet to me. Their delivery was magnificent. From scepticism to pure hatred, I saw it all and enjoyed every minute of the tantrums, word exchange, frustration, sadness and other things I can't describe for lack of better words.
The actors were gruesome and benign when needed. They also understood their characters really well. If you ask me, I’d say they had fun being who they played because there is no way you can deliver that good without having loved it first. However, that could just be me.
Makeup, Cinematography, Music.
I don’t want to spoil it but I feel the motion and the art in Vecna is brilliant. I also like the analogy of the ‘Hive mind’. It added to the urgency of everything and just made each action of the characters towards the end more mind consuming. Like old school, they added the ‘hero element’, waiting until the last minute for something of a miracle to happen. Those bits can be annoying, I should warn you.
Set in the 80s, lots of interesting sounds from then, and so many things that the abundance of technology now fails to remind us. I also enjoyed the way the cameras moved to get the audience into perspective. Sometimes, I’d find myself tilting my head following the sway of the lens.
In conclusion, Stranger Things is a great series and cool for the watch. Contains a lot of violence though so tread lightly if you don’t have the stomach for gore.
