A new student gets enrolled in a school for the elite under a full scholarship. Kang Ha, a young face from a humble background gets enrolled in Jooshin Noblesse and he has just one goal; find the person responsible for the death of his brother.
I came across this series all those moons ago and as usual, I kept putting it off especially since TikTok kept up with the hype. Now, I have seen it and it was, for the lack of better words, flat.
I have not seen many K-dramas but I have seen a lot. The revenge/romance plot is a huge selling point in the k-drama industry. They have a way of spinning tales and just adding the right twist. However, this fell short.
I am forced to think that whoever wrote this script must have been in a huge rush to make some money or was trying to meet deadlines. That’s the vibe the storyline gave. Rushed, unpolished, predictable and very dry.
From Kang Ha’s entry where we are served steam on a platter with delectable promises of a well woven plot, to the development in the person of Jung Jae-i, I think it’s safe to say that this story could have been better.
Personally, I feel that bullying was glorified in the person of Kim Ri-an as he was made to be some sort of hero in the end. All this movie did was advertise the life of the rich using very pretty actors and having very little impact.
Everything about it, save for the bond between the four close friends felt forced and unnecessary. Yet, even that, was defiled to enhance the story and make it more “engaging”. Friends to enemies? Pfft!
I wonder where Lee Woo-jin stood the entire time and then in the end, we see he stands with his “friends”. Honestly, everything was just way too much. I mean, Jae-i wants to protect Ri-an but somehow she has or develops feelings for Kang Ha in that short time?
The whole bits and pieces of secrets here and there was just so predictable. How did I know who the blackmailer was from the onset? How did I know she ran away because she was pregnant? Because all this has been told before.
Then they wait to show us the culprit like two episodes to the end. How obvious! I told my baby girl that she shouldn’t bother watching it. It’s just a movie with pretty faces, flashy life and a very dissatisfying end. Well done (not).
This is a flop for me. Y’all can take a 3/10.
