Title: THE BEEKEEPER
Jason Statham kicks ass as a retired covert-ops fixer for an off the books, above the law secret organization. Yeah, it's not breaking new ground here. We've all seen this before.
Action? Check. Bad Ass seeking revenge for innocent victim of corrupt organization? Check. Statham kicking ass? Check.
So, Statham is happily retired, raising bees and enjoying the company of an elderly neighbor when she is scammed by cyber criminals and ends up committing suicide. Her daughter is, of course, an FBI agent. Statham begins taking the organization apart from the bottom up. Of course, the corrupt organization is protected by the ex-head of the CIA and the current President of the United States is the head of the evil corporation. Chaos ensues.
Fun: Anything with Statham is fun. He has a way about him where even when he is kicking ass, he's fun. This movie is no different. The bad guys are over the top, the fight scenes are well choreographed, and everybody likes a good vigilante flick where the bad guys get what's coming to them in large doses.
Preachy: Mostly the whole "The system is broken, corruption is protected by the elites and no one cares about the regular folk" thing. So basically, just reality. Kinda perfect for election season.
