So, I watched Pathaan. And what a thought-provoking movie it was. I was having thoughts about making this post, that my freshtohome coupon is about to expire and I am not in a position to order anything, why is the one piece so long, Chennai is getting hotter by each year and there are people who still believe that climate change is just a theory.

SPOILER: I will try to stay focused and discuss the movie and but can’t promise for sure.
The movie claims to be done 1000Cr business at the box office, which got me curious. After the disappointment that the Bhramastra was, I was keeping myself at a safe distance from Bollywood. The movie was released on OTT sometime in March within 2months after the release. That was sus. But still, I was at safe distance and avoid poking around the Bollywood movies. Last week when I was bedridden, I thought of watching something. And right when I was about to switch to NetFlix, this one bit me.
Let's not waste any more of our time, like the movie did and jump right into the review.
The movie is part of the YRF Spy universe. Which has “Ek the Tiger”, “Tiger Zinda hain”, “War” in that order. All the mentioned movies did well at the box office. And hence we have the spy before Pathaan I wasn't even aware that all the events were taking place in the same universe. But I am not blaming them, the real culprit was MCU. After the success of that franchise, every damn movie has to be a part of some universe. In an effort to connect the story with the franchise, the Story is getting disconnected from the audience.
- Ek the Tiger - RAW agent fell in love with and ISI agent and goes rouge.
- Tiger Zinda Hain - Honestly I didn't have the nerve to watch that. As I had already seen Race 3 by then. My sincere apologies.
- WAR - RAW agent goes rogue but is a good guy. And RAW agent who goes after the rouge is the Bad one.
Now Pathaan - Ex-RAW agent goes rouge, And RAW agent who goes after the rouge is Pathaan.
Writers playing with the story
I mean what the…. Ufff!!!
This was just war with a role reversal and the same amount of action and a lot more nonsense. I am sure the real-world RAW is probably too busy to watch such nonsense. But as the new world trend, I am offended on behalf of them. Just Kidding, I cannot fathom the amount of dedication, hard work and training they endure. And my getting offended on behalf of them would be an insult. Getting back to the Jokers from Bollywood, Yup. That is the name of the team JOCR (Joint Operations and Covert Research) ‘sigh’...
Insert the storyline from the xxx movie (Not the p*on, but the Vin diesle one) apparently, there is bioweapon stolen by the Bad guy and it was our hero who helped them because he was led to believe that someone else is going to take that. Ah! I forgot, there is an ISI agent played by Deepika Padukone who turns out to be Pathaan’s love interest. But she double-crosses him and the audience as they lose interest in the movie itself. John Abraham plays the character of the Ex-RAW agent who is hell-bent on destroying India, could have been an interesting character but every time he was on screen all I heard was ‘New Garnier MEN master detox…’ I am sorry but at times it felt like I was watching the extended version of that ad. (Fun Fact - That ad features Tiger Sheroff who played RAW agent (bad guy) in WAR) Probably part of their spyverse where they are doing ads to avoid suspicions.
See!!! this movie made me dumb.
I am not sure why I didn’t like it. One reason could be my health. It is the same action masala served on a new plate. Also, this is my personal opinion of the movie. And not commentary on the actors or the people involved in the work. I am sure it will be a good fix for people who are looking for action and fan service. I am no movie critic, just a guy who loves watching movies and would love to be in one someday. As for now, I am an idiot with an opinion and an internet connection.
I am inuke, And this movie just made me realise that I waste too much of my time on such things.
See you around. Cheers...
