Hello,

This american science-fiction movie is available on Prime Video.

This movie is adapted from the book The Reincarnationist Papers written by D. Eric Maikranz.

Synopsis :
The story begins in 1985, in Mexico. Heinrich Treadway (Dylan O'Brien) is chased down by the police, and especially by Bathurst from whom Treadway stole a very special egg.
The scenario then continues in 2020, we are following the day to day life of Evan McCauley (Mark Wahlberg), treated for schizophrenia, but who seems to know quite much about a darn lot of things. He's, for example, able to craft a Katana following a very ancient Japanese forging method, which he'll exchange against drugs, illegally of course.
In fact, there are 2 opposing sides in this story : the Infinites and the Nihilists.
On both sides, they are persons with an incredible memory, because when they die they are reincarned in a new body but their memory accumulates the knowledge (experiences and reflexes included) of their past lifes. The Infinites are on the good side, as they use this advantage to give a better future to the planet and mankind. On the other side, you have the Nihilists who only want to eradicate life on Earth, using the special egg as a bomb.

My review :
Hem .. not bad but not good !
I understand the critics on this movie. A lot of action, but not really a lot of logic. Plenty of inconsistencies too.
Maybe it was like that in the book, but I think the subject could have given something better.
Although there is a nice casting : Mark Wahlberg, Dylan O'Brien, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rupert Friend, Toby Jones, Johannes Haukur Johannesson, ...

If you watched this movie, what did you think about it ? If you haven't seen it, you didn't miss so much.

Bye for now, take care,

Isiksen

Hey @isiksenpalvoja! Not bad but not good? 😄 I get what you mean. Mark Wahlberg is a great actor and does more action movies. Maybe that's the reason the action is more than logic, as you put it.

I'm sure the book is better and will be enjoyable than the movie. Nicely done! !PIZZA ☺️

Hello @kemmyb 😂 I prefer Mark Wahlberg in his other action movies, lol :)
Thank you for your comment !

I can totally support the "not bad, but not good" statement here.
That was pretty much my feeling in this movie as well.
As i already did mention on another scifi/timetravel movie post, i am a bit of a critic when it comes to them and infinite was borderline acceptable for me for both the book and the movie.
I wouldn't say you didn't miss much as it does have a bit of a unique take on the reincarnation theme, but they could've done so much more with it.
