The Bad Guys || Charmingly Light-hearted

in #hive-12174417 hours ago

I’m going for something pretty light hearted today. I didn’t believe I’d ever say this but even cartoons are getting too serious these days. Too much adult crap, too many overly serious themes being thrown into the mix. So, I kind of tread with caution the way I do with actual movies with animated movies as well. I’d like to think 2022 was one of the last years of sanity, so I’m happy to be talking about this movie which I enjoyed immensely.

The Bad Guys (2022)

Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark and Ms. Tarantula are all renowned and notorious thieves. For just about a lifetime, they’ve been successful in carrying out jaw dropping heists with ease and finesse. That’s until one unfortunate day that they’re caught.

Now these legendary outlaws have a choice to make. They either go to the prison and face jail time or they pull off their greatest con yet – Successfully tricking the world into believing that they are now good guys. In a world where humans and anthropomorphic animals coexist, these con artists are about to learn that things aren’t always as they seem.

My Thoughts and Rating

This was an enjoyable watch for me so I’ll briefly set the scene as to why I don’t have a single negative thing to say about this movie. I was with a friend. We’d studied for hours and had become bored. We scrolled through a list of movies and with the limited time we had to spare, we couldn’t afford anything that would get us needlessly riled up. Cosying up a bit, we decided to see a comfort film that we’d already seen and was sure to guarantee us good laughs. Hence, this delightful piece.

Who was my best character? Would probably be Mr. Wolf. I don’t know, he gave off the same vibe as the Fox in Zootopia. That charming, regular bad boy aura that just oozed out in spades. The girlies like me ate that up like breakfast on a good period day.

I always admire people who are relaxed in their own skin. Relaxed enough not to be apologetic for practically anything they do. No matter what. I know, I know....all of these shouldn’t matter since they’re animations and not actual people. Semantics really if you look at it carefully. But like I said, this movie and even this review is just fun all the way round. Nothing serious at all.

Like most movies, this animated film had lessons to disperse and values to teach. These are the bad guys. Code name for what all of us are in different ways but not as bold to accept or own up to. So, it is basically a comedic way to portray all we already see in our society. The lies, the betrayal, the hypocrisy, the evil in pure daylight. All of that showcased in a way that leaves you satisfied, happy and light all round. Which is just how my friend and I felt after seeing The Bad Guys.

Far too many serious things are happening in my life these days, so happy masterpieces like these are welcome. I heard there’s a part two that was released this year. I will make my findings and see if it’s something I can enjoy just like I did this one. This by the way has a good 4.2/5 stars. Have a beautiful week ahead everyone. Stay happy.
