Big Momma's House is a 2000 American comedy film directed by Raja Gosnell Starring Martin Lawrence as Malcolm Turner, an FBI agent tasked with a covert operation disguised as a fat old woman in order to obtain information about a past crime.

Although the film and the series as a whole has been mocked as a model for "big black woman representations featured in mass-marketed comedies" who simultaneously devalue women by choosing "male actors in fat latex suits", Roger Ebert gave the film 2 out of 4 stars and wrote: "Any movie that uses an oven mitt and a plumber's friend in the birth scene can't be all bad and I laughed a lot."

Storyline of Big Momma's House:

Undercover FBI agent John Maxwell investigates the underground dogfighting arena in Korea. He is identified and later ordered to be killed by a Korean gang leader. John is eventually rescued by his secret partner and disguise owner Malcolm Turner.

Meanwhile, criminal Lester Visco, who was originally serving a life sentence for murder and armed robbery, escapes from his cell by killing a doctor and stealing his car. The FBI also tasked Malcolm and John with arresting Lester by sending them to the small Georgia town of Cartersville to house an elderly, overweight African-American woman, Hattie May Pierce, whom her friends affectionately call Big Momma.

After Big Momma unexpectedly leaves town for two weeks to help a sick friend, Malcolm and John infiltrate her home to plant security cameras and tap phones. Sherry calls Big Mama's house and Malcolm disguises his voice as the big mother in order to lure Sherri into the house and perhaps get a confession. The plan works and Malcolm and John work together on a Big Momma costume before Sherry arrives.

The next day, Sherry arrives at Big Momma's house with her 10-year-old son, Trent, She works as a midwife to a woman named Retha who went into labor and attends self-defense classes under the supervision of Retha's older brother a poorly intelligent security guard named Nolan, whom Malcolm easily defeated.

After Malcolm nearly damages the suit while sleeping, he attempts to sneak into the safe house where he and John are staying. However, Sherry catches Malcolm on the balcony as he pretends to be Big Momma's handyman. Malcolm and John have fixed the case. When Malcolm leaves with Sherry, John searches for Trent and Sherry's belongings for clues, but to no avail. He also associates Malcolm with Trent when he defends him against the two older boys who bullied Trent and kicked him off the basketball court so they could play.

Malcolm and Trent finds out about their operation but they are captured and recruited to their aid after he insists on helping them capture Lester.

Malcolm accidentally discovers stolen money hidden in the instrument of the Trent telescope. Sherry tells Malcolm the true story: Lester summons Sherry so he can steal her keys to get into the bank vault. Sherry never tells anyone about her stolen keys for fear of getting kicked out. John tells Nolan quietly in the bathroom that the Real Big Mom is back, at which point Nolan accidentally locks Malcolm out of the house thinking he is the Real Big Mom.

When Lester arrives after tracking down Sherry, Malcolm breaks through the window and fights Lester, causing confusion among the partygoers as they see two big moms at once. Lester shoots John in the right shoulder and tears off Malcolm's mask during a fistfight, revealing his identity. However, he subdues Malcolm Lister by being thrown out the window. Sherry and Trent are heartbroken when they realize that Malcolm has been an FBI agent the whole time and refuse to talk to him.
