When I saw the topic for this week’s CineTV Contest I was instantly transported back to a simpler time in my life where movies played such a pivotal role in who I am and I am definitely a product of my generation lolol
This week, the CineTV community has posed the query of our favorite sports movie and while there have been so many excellent sports movies produced over the years, the one that immediately came to my mine was the original The Longest Yard starring Burt Reynolds.
To start off it should go to show how poorly I was raised in that my parents allowed me to watch such a movie at a very tender young age, but then again I was always much more mature than my peers and I would have snuck around and watched it anyway……I was a bit “difficult” to raise to say the least lol
I think the main draw for me to this movie was the redemptive story of an arrogant man who is brought low by the circumstances of life and the journey he embarks on to regain his humanity and re-prioritize a very twisted value system into redemptive alignment with what is truly right and wrong with one’s decisions. Supporting this main theme was an excellent roster of amazing actors and some of the most comedic scenes of a generation neatly packaged in an extremely entertaining movie.
I will also add that, while I enjoyed the remake featuring Adam Sandler, it did not compare in my eyes to the original one. But when a movie is seen at such a young impressionable age, it is hard to replace the nostalgia associated with the original. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post and remember that I love you all and each of you deserves a redemptive journey that is hidden in this comedy of life!
