The story of the movie
The Wretched tells the story of a teenage boy named Ben who is forced to go live with his father in a house by the sea due to some family problems Ben begins to feel that there is something strange about the neighbors especially the woman who lives next to them and who he discovers is possessed by the spirit of an old witch This witch can control people make them forget their loved ones kidnap children and do terrifying things Ben plays the role of a young detective and tries to uncover the secret and stop the witch.
The acting performance was good in general especially from the hero John Paul Howard who played the role of Ben He was able to convey the feeling of the young man who is trying to find himself in the midst of all these strange events Also Piper Korda who played the evil neighbor was really scary and played her role excellently.
Directing and graphics
The direction was good The Pierce brothers who made the film were able to create an atmosphere of horror and tension through the use of lighting and music The graphics were acceptable especially when they showed the appearance of the witch but in some moments it was a little weak but this did not diminish the overall atmosphere of the film.
The story was entertaining and suspenseful even though it was based on a not new idea which is the subject of magic and curses But the way they presented events and small details was distinctive and made the film worth watching The events were fastpaced and had some unexpected developments which kept the viewers attention the entire time.
Final evaluation
The Wretched is a good horror movie for fans of this type of movie It is not the strongest horror movie you can watch but it definitely has terrifying moments and suspenseful scenes worth watching If you like horror movies that revolve around ancient myths and witches you will like this movie.
