Hello friends. I have a few series that I love, but there are some which I think deserve more attention and respect than they get. In this post, I will be talking about two of those shows: "Galavant" and "The Singing Detective".
First, let's talk about "Galavant." The show tells the story of Galavant (played by Joshua Sasse), a knight who wants to sing songs in the best taverns all around the world. He meets King Richard (played by Timothy Omundson) and his daughter Isabella (played by Karen David). But as time passes, he discovers his true love, who was sent away to marry the prince at the beginning of the show.
"Galavant" has an amazing cast. It is full of talented actors and actresses. For example, Joshua Sasse plays Galavant with so much passion and energy that you can't help but fall in love with him. And if we talk about the supporting characters, Timothy Omundson, who also starred in the TV series "Psych", is perfect for the role of King Richard. And of course, we can't forget about the princess Isabella, who is played by Karen David, who also appeared in "Fear the Walking Dead".
In addition, the music is amazing. The songs are catchy and fun, and they really fit the tone of the show. Even though it only had one season, the show is very well made and deserves a lot more recognition.
I grew up with musicals. My mom used to take me to the theater when I was little, and she introduced me to some great classics. So, watching this show was a bit nostalgic for me. Also, it is funny and entertaining. There is one more reason why I enjoy it so much is because the characters are relatable. They make mistakes, they fall in love, and they struggle to find their place in the world.
Now, let's talk about the other show I want to discuss today: "The Singing Detective". This show was created by Dennis Potter, the author of "Pennies from Heaven" and "The Singing Detective". The plot revolves around a detective named Philip E. Marlow, who is trying to solve a murder case. During his investigation, he gets lost inside himself and discovers that he is the singing detective. The main actor who plays the singing detective is Michael Gambon, who also starred in the TV series "Fortitude" and "Little Women". He is absolutely brilliant in this role.
The Singing Detective has such a unique concept. It is both a mystery and a drama. It is set in the 80s, but it has a modern vibe to it. And most importantly, the songs are amazing. The show has an incredible soundtrack with songs like "Peg o' My Heart", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "Dry Bones" and "Blues in the Night".
Another thing I liked about this show is that it is dark. At first, it seems like a lighthearted comedy, but then you realize that it is actually quite sad. The main character has a lot of pain and suffering, and he is struggling with his own identity. And I love that. It is not easy to portray someone who is suffering. I think that it makes the show more interesting.
And lastly, I want to mention how important the supporting cast is. All of them are so talented and bring something special to the show. They make the characters come alive. It's a great show, but it has been forgotten by many people. I hope you give it a chance if you haven't already watched it.
