After the country has gone through a momentous reset, countless questions are now being asked, studies are being done, and genuine action is being taken. People finally have the right to their freedom of speech and question those the autocratic government has once protected. Whether it be big businesses and their CEOs, manipulated media companies, or those who have benefitted from having friends and connections with those in power.
It has just been over 2 weeks since we got our second independence, and the information that's beginning to unravel is way beyond our knowledge and assumptions.
Who knows what more we have in store? It's a very deep rabbit hole. A hole that was dug with close to two decades of manipulation, exertion, embezzlement, cold-blooded murders of thousands of innocents, killings of those who held a contrarian view or method, or simply dared to question those in power.
The common and blind bunch of people are wondering, how such oppressive methods were being executed right under our noses. How billions were embezzled in the name of development and progress. How those in power, their friends, and well-wishers preyed on the common people.
These people, who've stripped billions from the country have all fled. Leaving behind a broken economy. Hampering its very achievable hopes and dreams of development throughout the past two decades; setting the country back by half a century even, as some are saying. It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows before these 15-20 years, but at least the scale of such atrocities wasn't as immense and surely not as blatant.
I wonder sometimes, how much money does a person really need? And how strong are our morals and ethics when it comes to making money?
We humans lack gratitude I believe. We want it all for ourselves. We don't acknowledge our blessings, and we lose ourselves in all worldly affairs; losing the sense to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. And it is because of the lack of gratitude, we fall victim to greed and gluttony; then at one point, greed simply hijacks our thoughts and desires, all it sees and wants is more. After a certain point, there is no end, to money, fame, power, sex, drugs and alcohol, and a lot more; pick your poison. Whether you have to steal it or kill someone for it, it all seems fair to you because you're blinded by it. You find yourself in a game of accumulation, and you do whatever it takes to get it.
And if karma is a thing, you will get your fair share of it when the time comes; they all do. Alas, by then it's too late to make amends.
What do you leave behind then? A permanent scar for those who are related to you and your family's blood and lineage; possibly hampering the reputation of your forefathers too. And even if there is some money left for the future generation to inherit, people will know that it's all blood money; even the honest bit of money will be neglected its respect and dignity by the people. Word gets around quickly these days you know. It's not the 1950s anymore, and it is evident now more than ever; because of how things are unraveling here now, that none shall be spared, and there is nowhere to hide in the digital generation. And that is one very powerful thing about social media and the current digitalization.
There was a quote I recently heard, one that I revamped and emphasized.
"If you just make money, you have an income, it is profit. When you have investments, assets, and successful businesses, that is growth and wealth. And if all of it is built on honest work and a sense of morality, that is known as success."
