We have read about so many rulers or leaders across the world. There is alwsys something that makes than stand apart from others. It is not only about physical appearance, to be a ruler, but a complete knowledge and understanding is important.
A successful ruler must be knowledgeable about how to use power effectively. It is no sense that anyone coukd be a ruler. To be a great rulers, one should learn the rules of political power and how to orchestrate the semiotics of power. Many a times it has been observed that an illiterate get to power. And it results in misuse and no proper usage of power. Our Sanskrit vedas too highlighted this fact through these verses.
अन्धो हि राजा भवति यस्तु शास्त्रविवर्जितः|
अन्धः पश्यति चारेण शास्त्रहीनो न पश्यति||
Andho hi Raajaa bhavati yastu shaastravivarjitah.
*Andhh pashyati chaarena shaastraheeno na pashyati
Andho = blind.
Hi = surely, because.
Raajaa = king, a ruler.
Bhavati = becomes.
Yastu = who is.
Shastra = scriptures, treatises of various disciplines of learning,
Vivarjitah = deprived of,
Andhah = a blind person.
Pashyati = sees.
Chharena = by touching.
Heeno = wanting, deficient in
Shaastraheeno = a person who does not have the knowledge of Shaastras i.e. an illiterate person.
Na = not.
A king (or a Ruler in the present times) is like a blind person if he is not well versed in various scriptures and disciplines of learning. A blind person can at least compensate the loss of his eyesight through touching various objects by his hand, but an illiterate person is like a blind person in spite of having normal eye sight.
The Sanskrit verses has highlighted the need of a ruler being well versed in Scriptures and knowledgeable, because without it he can not take correct decisions and his position is worse than an ordinary blind person.
So intead of being blind, a a good ruler should be aware of all the noches to be a great ruler.
