As a teacher, giving praise and punishment to students is expected. When students can answer questions from the teacher, then they deserve recognition. Conversely, if there are students who cannot complete their obligations as students, for example, homework, then the teacher also has the right to punish these students.
I saw some students getting punished by a teacher. I was curious to see some students sitting in a group on the field while discussing something. I approached them and asked what had happened to them.
They replied that they still needed to finish their homework for Math. So, the Math teacher punished them for completing their task outside the classroom.
Punishing students can be done in various ways depending on the student's action or error level, just like the Math teacher did. Students are allowed to complete their homework outside of class. Other sanctions can also be done by giving additional assignments.
Schools have different rules for implementing a punishment system for students. So, parents should understand those rules. In some cases, some parents cannot accept the punishment system for students. This situation can be understood if the punishment received by students is in the form of physical punishment, causing students to be traumatized or injured. However, suppose the sentence is in the form of social sanctions. In that case, parents do not need to be too excessive because the purpose of social sanctions against students is to teach lessons and give students an understanding of the consequences of their actions.
Punishment should be given proportionally. I am sure the teacher will provide only a few sentences. The teacher is a sympathetic figure. Although some students often need help, the teacher will always advise these students.
Regarding students who do not do homework is something that I often face in the classroom. I have also given punishment to these students. I offer several disciplines and opportunities for them to complete homework. These punishments include coaching together with the homeroom teacher. In addition, I will also give good grades if the student can be coached. Sometimes this punishment works.
That's a bit of my experience when dealing with students who are lazy and don't do their homework. What do you think?
