Awaiting Spring in My Garden: A Tale of Sunshine, Flowers, and Teenage Sun Allergies

in #hive-1226756 months ago

After what feels like an eternity of rain, when the first sunbeams finally pierce through the gray, my garden and I both breathe a sigh of relief. And not just any sigh, but that deep, soul-soothing exhale that comes from months of waiting under soggy skies.

Welcome to my sanctuary, where magnolias bloom with the enthusiasm of a teen discovering Wi-Fi, and where pink and yellow flowers vie for the title of "Garden's Top Model." It's a place of vibrant colors and fragrant blooms, all unfolding under the watchful eyes of a perimenopausal peace seeker (that’s me!), looking for a few moments of quiet away from my lovely, yet indoorsy teens.

Yes, my two children, aged 16 and 18, seem to believe the sun is about as friendly as their morning alarm. They're allergic to anything that doesn't involve a roof and Wi-Fi, making my garden my exclusive retreat. Here, amid the heathers and geraniums, I find my zen—even if it's sometimes interrupted by shouts of "What’s the Wi-Fi password?!" drifting from the windows.

Spring in my garden isn't just a season; it's a transformation. It's when I trade the winter blues for floral pinks, when every blooming heather feels like a personal cheerleader for my mental health. The garden is where I can be alone with my thoughts, accompanied only by the buzzing of bees and the occasional curious squirrel, wondering if I’ve got any nuts on me (Spoiler: Just the ones I use to bribe the kids out of the house).

As the sun stretches its legs and the days grow longer, I too stretch out in my floral haven. Here, in the dappled sunlight, I'm more than just a mom or a perimenopausal warrior; I'm a queen in her court of petals, ruling over a kingdom that prefers photosynthesis over PlayStation.

So, here’s to the waiting, the blooming, and the quiet joys of spring. May your gardens be bright, your spirits brighter, and may your teens find their allergy medication—because really, it’s about time they learned the Wi-Fi password is "GoOutside1234."
