Wood stove - Memorable and primitive beauty

in #hive-1230462 years ago

Hi Hivers in ecoTrain community, what kind of stove are you using? With the development of all aspects of modern life, modern electric, induction and gas stoves have become familiar and basic appliances in our kitchens. But for me, the wooden stove is still something with a memorable and primitive beauty.

I do not refuse the convenience of modern stoves such as electric, induction or gas stoves. They are easily installed in the corners of modern kitchens, using modern energy sources. They are also easy to use and do not produce smoke. Just press a button, we have fire to cook. For wooden stove, the first thing we have to do is collect firewood, then it takes time to light a fire and keep the fire burning during the cooking process. Not to mention, the process of cooking with wood can produce a lot of smoke.

However, everything has two sides. The convenience of modern kitchens can be exchanged for the destruction of nature and global warming. Going back to the past, fire was one of the greatest inventions of mankind. Since ancient times, people have used wood to create fire. Fire helps people cook, keep warm and drive away animals. In modern life, people mainly use fire for cooking.

For me, a fire made from wood has always been more beautiful than a modern flame. So although I usually use modern stoves, sometimes I still like to light a fire with dry wood for cooking or to sit with friends. In the cold weather at night, sitting around the fire, grilling and eating something and chatting with friends feels really cozy. In my opinion, making a fire is also a survival skill that everyone should learn. Although most of us are living with modern devices, maybe one day we will get lost in the forest. What would you do?

Also, the wooden stove is my memorable childhood. I was born and grew up in Dak Lak, a mountainous province on highlands of Vietnam. At that time, the weather is really cold at night in my place. I still remember all members in my family gathered around the fire and had some hot sweet potato before going to bed. The life at that time was difficult but so much happy. We didn't have electric light. In the evening, children like me used to use burning charcoal to draw on the dark air.

I'm a country girl and grew up using firewood. If I would have to choose between modern cooking appliances and firewood, I would still choose firewood. I don't know if you notice the taste and quality of food when cooked using firewood it's so much better than electric/ gas stove.

Hi @franzpaulie
I totally agree with you that the quality of the food when we cook using firewood is so much better than more than modern stoves, even though it takes more time and effort. I love the crunchy layer of rice at the bottom of the pot cooked by firewood.

Nice one I love it

I grew up using firewood and even collected dried woods when I was young, still my teenage years I think..
This when you are in the countryside, using stoves and electrics and other are just waste of money.
Yet, since my parents are old now, ang younger generations and different (don't expect them to collect woods🤣) we are now using charcoal at home.

Economically, we are not affected by high cost of electricity surcharge or gas. Also oldies says, food cooked using fire is still better.

The disadvantage was, the smoke was too much and makes the ceiling dirty. Plus , hehe it was hard to wash those pots

Hi @lhes
All you said are right. Because of the smoke, my family had a separate kitchen with the main house. And its ceiling is totally black with some spider nests. All the pots were black, but the quality of the food is super, I love the crunchy layer at the bottom of the pot cooked by firewood when we cook rice.

Thank you so much for your visit and have a nice day.

The fire brings joy to any man and women gathering around and it has some mystic in it. It gives power to anyone watching and warming around it, great photos!

There's always two sides in a coin and yes both using gas or woods always have advantages and disadvantages of its own. We still use woods in the countryside in my parents' house. It is the most convenient tool for coking food aside from we have lots of trees with dried branches, it is economically friendly to people living in remote places. The only challenge I don't like is when it is rainy season and the woods are wet. It is so crazy to keep blowing just to have it produce fire. But it is fun at the same time.😂

Hi @diding
What you described about the firewood is totally correct. It was my job when I was a child to blow to keep the fire burning when the wood was wet. And it was so fun, I love that game. Sometimes I tried to make more smoke, and my mom was so angry. That was a good memory of mine.
Thank you so much for your visit and have a nice day.
