The houses of the future and the care of the planet.

Hello to all the members of this @ecotrain community, I'm @tomaspalomo. As a professional career I am an expert appraiser and civil engineer. My profession has led me to dabble in various projects and in the real estate market, beyond buying and selling I specialize in advising people about the design of what will be their homes. Many times people tell me that they want super modern houses with state-of-the-art technology that are also environmentally friendly.

You will say that perhaps this combination is not possible, but today technology tries to be friendly with nature, we are talking about the ecological future of technology. As far as housing is concerned, I can tell you that there are advances that are in line with energy saving and sustainability. Here I will summarize some important points.

1.- Energy saving: The new houses with cutting-edge technology have solar panels that allow to reduce electricity consumption by relying on solar energy for the energy requirements of the home. In this sense, we also talk about buildings whose design is able to reduce the temperature inside the house with the lowest energy consumption load, in this case there is a design that takes advantage of air currents with a good location of inputs and outputs of ventilation, as well as sunlight.

2.- Generate the minimum environmental impact: A principle of ecological design is to use materials that do not generate pollution or at least reduce the pollution generated by the construction of the house, today we use river stones, natural wood for floors and roofs, coatings that do not contain chemical pollutants. In addition to this, the construction incorporates a system for reusing water from the pipes through a wastewater treatment system and rainwater is used not only with the installation of channels from the roof to water tanks but also with the construction of collection wells.

3.- Reduction of maintenance costs: The use of natural and therefore durable materials reduces maintenance or repair costs that may be incurred in housing.

4.- Incorporation of technology in security systems and basic household tasks: The houses of the future have a security and surveillance system that you can control from your cell phone, as well as the integration of an assistant for household tasks that can range from turning on the lights to activating the oven, controlling the heating, among others.

In this sense, the houses of the future are not only intelligent, but also ecological with the proper selection of design and materials used in their production. Certainly, there are countries where realizing this dream that unites technology with environmental care in our homes is still either very expensive or there are no materials and personnel with the training to do so, I believe it is not unattainable. The only thing we need is a little willingness and openness to change, today the big cities generate too much pollution and garbage which is directly related to large cities and construction is why we must join efforts to think about improving our homes and incorporating some of the features of these homes of the future and caring for the planet.

Thank you very much for reading and I look forward to your comments below. Do you already have any of these energy saving systems in your homes?

Some good points in your post. We do need to rethink our housing design.

That is the idea that people who already have our homes and that are somewhat old constructions, we can rethink the design in such a way that we can make these houses technological and ecological at the same time. Thanks for commenting

It is really interesting the way in which you propose the union of technology and the care of the planet in the design and construction of the planet. I wish more people would think of houses that were harmonious and kind to mother earth. Thank you for sharing.

Technology does not have to be divorced from the care of the planet and that is demonstrated by these homes that combine the best of technology for the care of the environment.
