Well the Block Party II is in full swing and it has shaped up to be an epic trip for me! Of course I had to come up just a little early to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area and do a little bit of fishing for the infamous @enginewitty! As happens from time to time with fishing (that's why it's called "fishing" and not "catching") I stuck out and came home empty handed. But when you are surrounded by such incredible beauty of nature and get a chance to stretch your legs a bit with a really great friend that is an extremely satisfying day in my book.
We started out by exploring the countryside as we attempted to "zero in" to the exact location we wanted to wet our lines in and once we found the spot, we parked and made our way to an imposing and impressive dam basin. The short walk to the dam was invigorating and it was such a pleasure trying to coax those elusive fish from their hiding spots. We then made our way down river through a couple of sets of small falls as we worked the eddies and bankside for bass and bream. Following the churning river beneath the cool canopy of the forest made for some exceptional views and plenty of possibilities to take a rest sitting on a smooth river rock made so very comfortable from eons of water rushing over its surface making it as smooth as glass.
We next made our way to another spot more adjacent to society and tried fishing there for awhile in a large pond. Witty worked just about every inch of it while I meandered around a bit nursing some fatigue in my ancient shoulders from fly fishing lololol I ended up taking up a resting position under some shade trees and just enjoyed some time of just being still. It was desperately needed and I am always grateful to Witty for his constant generosity and willingness to ferry me around and share some of his amazing community with me!
The main event fires up in a few hours so I better get some rest.....at my age I have to take excitement in stages lololol Remember I love you all and each of you deserve a fishing guide as generous as @enginewitty!
