Hello ladies! Let's talk about chapped lips 💋
Chapped lip is when you have your lip extremely dry, the skin is flaky and cracked like the image below
Symptoms of chapped lip are and not limited to; redness, bleeding, stinging or tingling, lip dryness, cracking...
The common causes of chapped lip are; dry air, dehydration, cold weather, constantly licking of the lip, sun damage, allergies and many more
Some precautions to take to avoid chapped;
Do you know that when you lick your lips constantly, coating it with your saliva, you're only making it moist temporarily, the saliva that you are coating it with contains enzymes which aids or assist in digestion of food that we consume there by making the lips uncomfortable and excessively dry
Continuous licking of the lips can also cause darkening of the lips
I am a fan of pink lips and I always wonder how my lip will look pinky today and dark the next day, I actually thought at some point that maybe I am anemic (short of blood) 😂 but you see these lips, I am always licking it even with a lip gloss or lip stick on
And because of my licking habit I stopped applying lipstick but my lips are always cracky. When I discovered the cause, I kind of trained myself to drop the habit
So, if you are a fan of pink lips like me or you are wondering why your lips have two shades colour and you have chosen licking of your lip a habit, you know what that means 😂
Ensure to take enough water and keep yourself hydrated
Use the right lip balm or lip gloss that works for you
For me, lip gloss is never the best for my lips, for like ten years now, I have been using Chap et lip balm
During dry season I do not need to worry about my lips getting cracky and when I feel that I need to exfoliate my lips, all I need to do is just to apply my balm when I am about to sleep and the next morning, a gentle mild scrub will do
Some chemicals are just not friendly to our lips like camphor, menthol, phenol, salicyclic acid, always look out for the ingredients on your choice of lip balm or lip gloss
And of course, exfoliating is good for the lips, our lips do not contain sebum-releasing oil glands that helps keep the skin soft and moisturized so, it is important that we remove the dead skin cells on our lips 💋
I do hope this piece is helpful to someone 😁
If you have a contrary opinion to any of my words, do let me know?
