It mostly starts like this...
A shift in the weather from warm to a little cold, the wind picks up speed and you can literally hear the leaves rustling in the winds, louder than usual.
Tiny droplets of rains begin to splatter the ground and in cases where rains had not fell for a long time, you can smell the soil, which I like by the way.
While I was still thinking through which prompt to write about this week, imagine the coincidence when I suddenly heard the splatter of rain? There and then I knew what to do.
I got up and it was already pouring and I tried to capture a couple of pictures.
I love rainy days.
Regardless of where I happened to be, there this calmness that washes over me and a different kind of inner peace that is felt on rainy days.
When I'm lucky enough to experience rainy days at home, I jump into bed, crawl under my covers and listen to the sound of the the rainfall.
In some cases too it becomes the perfect time to binge watch some captivating series. The coldness, the gloomy weather, the quietness outside except for the rainfall, it a bond I relate with so well on rainy days.
Contrary to my delight for rainfall, I have friends that do not share my level of excitement. Most of them are irritated by the sight that follows after a downpour. Wet grounds, the mud, muddy stagnant waters, flooded gutters among other things.
I am the odd one among my friends when it comes to rainfall, I love the smell of earth, the pattern with which rain falls, the gloomy weather and even how green and moist tree leaves look after a downpour.
I simply love rainy days.
