What makes you smile when you are having a bad day.
Every day can never be the same even though we hope it so. There are days when the sun would shine with brilliance, lighting up our insides, making us feel as though we are on top of the world and there are some days that would start with dark clouds hanging over our heads, threatening brimstones at us, making us feel under. Such is a bad day.
A bad day for me can refer to days when things just don't go as planned. A day when I feel more frustrated and more stressed than usual. On such a day, transfer of aggression is inevitable and God help ”whoever” steps on my toes…..ah! they would get it hot.
Since I have been able to identify the ”bad day symptoms” with its shenanigans, I try to snap out of it as soon as possible so that it doesn't affect my work or whatever thing I have planned for the day. With my line of work, wallowing in a bad day is simply out of the question because of the nature of my job and the people I interact with. Being able to deliver a lesson properly, get the attention of the students and also elicit a favourable response that aligns with the lessons objective for the day is paramount in my line of work, so bad days can't linger on.
My therapy to eradicating a bad day.
The first thing that brings a smile to my face when I am having a bad day is Money. Yes, you read it correctly. Most of the reasons for me having a bad day usually stem from financial inadequacy and incapacity to meet the needs of my family. If there is a need and I am not able to bring out money to sort out that need, then my head goes for a spin and I start to brood. From brooding, I lose my smile and carry a sombre appearance throughout but once someone gifts me money, oohlala, I instantly come alive with an energy I never knew I had. I start smiling from ear to ear like Cinderella with the glass slipper, hehe.
The second thing that can get me to smile when I'm having a bad is my daughter. Since we are almost always together, she can sense when I'm having a bad day and she will think of ways to keep my spirit light. She could start telling me of the funny things that happened in her class or she could share a funny snippet from one of her favourite television shows and that would get me smiling.
The third thing that can help me overcome a bad day is Music. I cannot overemphasise the great benefits that music has on the mind and soul. Trust me, good music has a way of making you forget all your worries and just smile. I am always with my earphones or airpods because I don't want to be caught wallowing in a gloomy mood for too long. When it seems like the day is dragging on and I'm feeling so overwhelmed, all I do is plug in my earphones to my phone and hit the boomplay app for some good music. Listening to songs like a new day has come or I'm alive by Celine Dion is usually always able to set my mood right and help me shake off the feelings of a bad day.
The last but not least is food and I mean good food. Good delicious eye-catching tasty food has the potential to send me to cloud nine and back again. When I prepare good food or a friend prepares good food for me and presents it,my oh my,my mood takes a 360 degrees turn and I become so happy in split seconds. The way to a man's heart is food, well the same can be said for me too 😁.
My code in life is simplicity and the simple things I mentioned are therapeutic enough to get me smiling even through a bad day.
