Change is the most common thing that can ever happen to a person. You are rich today and boom something drastic could happen and a change could occur. I have seen people move from having difficulty in leaving their families to staying on their own. This is change. Most changes could have a great impact on us, while some could have a negative impact.
Changes are inevitable but sometimes we find it difficult to adapt to them. Was there a circumstance or a sudden change that impacted your life, routine, or lifestyle? How did you deal with it? Did you have a hard time? Please share the story.
I have encountered several changes in my life growing up. It has been difficult navigating through the sphere of adulthood. I will always say a person doesn’t stop learning. I still try to understand how being an adult works. I still try to navigate my way through decision-making, when it comes to decision-making as an adult, I still find it difficult to decide what exactly I will eat that day, that is how tough decision-making is for me.
The biggest change which I am still finding difficult to adapt to is the fact that I am now an adult and I get to make decisions for myself. Most days I just want to be a baby and allow my parents to make certain decisions for me, they should choose my clothes and decide what I will eat on that day. Adulthood hasn’t been all great. I still try to understand certain things.
Before now, I would just go to school and my parents would be the ones to take care of every bill, they would get me clothes, and shoes and are even responsible for my food. Well right now, I am responsible for everything relating to me, and most times I am responsible for my younger siblings as well.
Years back, I bought things on impulse, I saw a shoe I liked, I got it, and I saw clothes I liked I got them. Well, that was so because I could get money from my parents, uncles, and aunties but right now the change of Adulthood has impacted my life so drastically. This change has made me move from being a spender on impulse to someone who makes a budget for everything. I try to not spend on impulse and also save some money because I could need something important and that savings could help out.
It wasn’t easy changing from someone who buys things whenever she wants to someone who is now a minimalist. I only get the important things. Most days I prefer to eat home-cooked meals than to even order takeouts because I think of one responsibility that will be needing the money that I am about to use. I now spend on level of importance.
People grow up and changes occur. It has been hard adapting to this stage of life, but it has turned me into a better lady. I get to make decisions for myself even if sometimes it is quite difficult but then I am dealing with it well. I also try to spend properly so that I do not fall into debt.
Change is a natural part of life and it is the only constant thing in life. I have come to understand that embracing these changes of moving on to Adulthood could be a life-changing experience for me.
