The definition of the word change is just a word, but there are divergent definitions of just that word because people have come across it in different manners.
Well, from my end, I shall define change as a turn-around in situations. The turn-around can be partial; a partial change could be like a change in the form of an angle of forty-five, sixty-sixty, or even ninety or more. A holistic change could also be an angle of one hundred and eighty, with no relationship between your present state and then. It could be permanent, or it might be temporary.
I will mention a few changes that have occurred in my life.
First of all, there is the financial change. I refuse to be blunt because the pastor told us to confess positively. There was a time in my life when I used a meal from my local end, which we call òkpa and garri, as an appetiser before my main meal. I ate morning, afternoon, and night. I still had savings as a student; there was not much money coming in, but I was financially conservative and economical. But in my third year, I experienced a complete turn-around. I forgot to tell it began when I plunged my hostel fees for an investment. Of course, you always knew they told you to take risks.
God has always been merciful, but he who sinners ignorantly shall receive some strokes. I knew my actions, but maybe I was not fully aware of them. That was how my gradual poverty began. Though I have a lot to battle with, I feel I would be the last to say that I am poor, because in my tongue lies power. Down to my finals, I had issues; I invested my money in different occasions; the COVID is a helping hand too if the truth must be told, and of course it must be told. For maturity as well, I broadened my needs and wants, so getting the same sim then could not carry along, meaning we had to get something done, but I was not really holding onto anything because my time was divided, but always, as I have always said, God was a provider.
It worsened in my finals. Remind me of the days when, before the end of two weeks, all you have has been swept to your stomach (which will ask for more so long as you are alive) and other miscellaneous needs, which I would call miscellaneous needs. But my human saviour saves my parents, who always manned up to their responsibilities, and my uncles and brothers, outside the box, is my roommate. He was a help, and it won’t be too much if I buy him a car by tomorrow, so long as I can afford it. Because owing him was a burden, I pay to borrow again.
I can say this point is the direct opposite of my life at 200. Though I don’t appreciate going back to the days of immaturity when all you have to do is eat, save, and live a good life, for now, like I said, maturity setting in means more needs to be spent. I have learned to walk long distances, for my creator gave me strong cartilages, and of course he knew I would be a time traveller with my legs.
Many investments have ill profits. Well, it is part of business for business entails gain or loss. I have drunk a little from the well of the former and have been drunken from the well of the latter. I remember the primary school days when butter and bread were a delicacy for breakfast, but now, I ask myself, when was the was the last was licked? There is a complete turn-around in the diet.
Well, after schooling, I got a job at some school, earning me a little above thirty thousand. I had to invest and have the belly to sate, then pertinent miscellaneous. But leaving the green line for a greener field, the profits did not resume coming in as expected, but hopes are high, so I walk as one who made the highlander vehicle.
I trust you have not forgotten that I told you we have a partial change and a holistic change, permanent and temporal. Well, I have been through partial changes, but this time of indigence seems to be longer than any, for learning a skill is likened to going to school, even the second half. But post-the period of this learning is a sun unto where I head, so I know even the changes from a filled belly to a flat one, happiness because of the cash flowing in and the sadness of not having anything in the purse save when you are giving for two weeks and being more, walking for an hour and knowing the nooks and craning of the way through to a place that was never imagined, I would know, all have made me better and stronger.
My adapting to it all and not chickening out at my father's house due to the hardship has made me who I am. And I am finally glad to say that I do not regret going through all these because great lines of goodness are falling in my favour, all erupting for a mini-multitude of experience acquired and God’s mercy shown unto me.
The permanent change shall be that of my going to a height of wealth that I never even emanated from, and it shall be permanent.
Change the say is constant. Most times, this change comes with a challenge, and we find it hard to handle it. Those changes make us strong. Most times it is good to experience changes because the build us.
