I've been doing myself a favor these days. Little by little I'm transforming my slight "Brutalist" house (the one I rent from my friend for the meantime) into a cosy dungeon. This is where me and Diablo (my cat) hide from all the zombies outside. It is not safe out there... I have very little time to get supplies outside but have more time inside to chill with D while we wait for the end of days. So I might as well make our space comfortable while we're here and make it look like someone can actually thrive in the darkness...
To be honest I'm a bit obsessed lately that I began designing my current home into how I envision my future dwelling would look like. As you all know from my previous post, I recently bought a tiny plot where I plan to build my eco-brutalist industrial tiny dystopian home for me and my cat. Hopefully with a mini lap pool and a yard full of plants too (if it's not too much too ask for a simple life). A place I no longer have to escape from. My safe haven. But of course I need more time and money for this so I moved to a cheaper house which is sadly less than ideal (far from the center, lots of diabolical people around, noisy, etc.) But then for the sake of my sanity, I found ways to just make it my pre-Brutalist home. Because I have to feel comfortable and I have to live right NOW in order to make my plans happen. So I bought little things that will make me feel zen.
I bought this tall plant to turn my place into a rainforest cave - habitat to a rare and endemic species such as me😊. Then I have these cheap black metal table and chairs to make my place look a bit "industrial".
Coffee corner yo!
The video below is from this "Never Too Small" Youtube channel where they feature really cool small home interior designs (around 30-50 sqm). Small homes are cool. You don't need to clean a huge house (because I hate cleaning) and light/cool the whole space, so it is more sustainable and energy-efficient. This particular one is a Japanese industrial style home which I kinda like. It gives me some idea as to how I can design my future home. I do like all the metals, concrete and stainless steel finishings and all the deliberate imperfections in it. The cracks and all yeah! I'm just not sure about the exposed pipes as I don't want nasty bugs to have a chance to live with me too ugh. But yeah, I do like what most people find weird and distasteful.
Remember the idea is to ward people off LOL. And how can I do that if I'm going to build yet just another home with all the usual fancy paint and shit? Sure, to each his own. As for me, I fell in love with Brutalism because it looks cold, uninviting and isolated. Exactly what I'm looking for and what I need in life - hopefully in order to be left alone in peace. This home is not for everyone. "The witch lives here ".
The plan is to make up for the ugliness outside by making the interior luxurious, with top of the line smart appliances, warm and mood lights, and of course ultra depressing tones to match me and my cat's diabolical personalities. ;) Because in the end, the home is actually for us. It is not to impress anyone. Anyway guys, just another adventure to look forward to. Such hell we'll live in and we're loving it already. :)
