Good morning ladies🤗
Hope we're doing well and fine 😌? I made a post earlier where I shared my knowledge about our hair which I was sure was the first time some of us heard of something like that, some like myself (knew about hair perosity and tests not quite long too). For those of us that has not seen or read about the first part it's Here I'll highly recommend to give it a try before reading this
And as @monica-ene asked, checking and knowing your hair perosity is a simple test that can be done at home at your convenience in just few steps. There are many way to check but "Float test" is the best and will give more accurate data
How to check for hair perosity type
Wash your hair with shampoo or whatever your routine is on your wash-day or wash your hair on the comb mouth
Get a container or bowl with clean water
Take a strand or few strands of your clean hair (before applying any treatment or cream) from your comb then drop in the bowl of clean water and wait for few minutes (7-10 minutes)
Designed using canva
From the picture above you should know where you belong, if your hair floats that's low perosity, if it's neither floating nor sank to the buttom that's medium perosity and if it sank to the buttom you have high perosity hair
Now since you know your hair type let me give some tips on how to make the best of your hair type
For Low perosity hair
Try to pre-poo your hair with organic oils (anyone you prefer) hours before wash-day
Wash your hair with sulphate free shampoo
Incorporate steaming into your routine (at most once in two weeks)
Use warm water to wash (this encourages the cuticle to open up to allow nutrients in)
For medium perosity hair
For high perosity hair
- Pre-poo with oil hours b4 wash-day
- Use cool to wash (to encourage the cuticles to close and retain moisture
- Use protein treatment and conditioning often.
High porosity hair require more oils and conditioning so feed it just that as much as possible
tips for all hair type
- Pre-poo (massage oil into your scalp and hair strands) before wash-day
- Use sulphate free shampoo instead
- Use leave in conditioners instead of rinse out ones. Deep conditioner roach in proteins and moisture if possible
- And lastly seal in the moisture after the above steps with water based Moisturiser (I always add water to my hair butter for this step)
Your comments and suggestions are welcome,as we're all still learning
