This post is my contribution to the @ladiesofhive contest and I chose to answer the second question - Would you accept an all-expenses paid trip to another country but it means spending the holiday alone? Why or why not?
Tbh if you had asked me any year before this year I would've said no, but this year I've seen my family so much throughout the year I wouldn't feel like I'm missing something if I wouldn't be home for the holidays. And even tho I love my family and company, I do love to spend some time alone exploring, reading a book in a cafe while sipping on a hot black tea with a splash of oatmilk and when I don't feel like reading anymore .. watch people go about their day, enjoy the beautiful season and just be calmed by how beautiful it can be to just be...
Honestly tho, I would be okay without the "all-expenses paid" part - I would just love to have that me time, that calm, that doing whatever I want without the pretend part of the holidays.
Because as much as I love most of my family, there is always a part of me that pretends for them and I think that'll never change and therefore for me Christmas will always be a mentally draining time... and I wouldn't mind therefore spending it alone.
Comfy in a cabin, with the fire sizzling in the background and the smell of fresh tea and burned wood, while I chill in my robe, my feet in grandmas selfmade socks and just breath in this beautiful moment and enjoy the time alone ...
And even tho that sounds horrible to some people, to me that sounds like home, pure comfort and a healing moment.
As always shot with my Sony ZV-1, my LED panel for some extra light and nothing more is necessary sometimes... just be.
