Birthdays in my family are unique, we are a family of 4 children, three girls and one boy, and the three girls were born in September, with the boy being born in August. So many times when I tell my friends that I and my siblings share the same birth month, they usually ask if my parents planned it, and I’m like, how do I know the answer to that?
So last week Thursday the 14th of September was my sister’s birthday, then today the 21st of September is my birthday, and on the 24th of September will be my youngest sister’s birthday. I usually find this so unique. Growing up my parents just used to pick a date and celebrate or mark our birthdays.
So, today started on a good note, I don’t know about others, but there’s this special feeling that comes with birthdays, this feeling of ecstasy, you feel like you’re on top of the world, like I said I don’t know if others feel that way or it’s just peculiar to me. I woke up to a call from a friend, he wished me happy birthday, and we talked for a while, and then thereafter, I received a credit alert from him, I immediately called back and thanked him. I said my prayers and started getting prepared for work and my dad called and prayed for me as it’s the usual birthday tradition, on every one of our birthdays he calls and prayers for us, my aunty also does the same thing. I was in high spirits, although, since the birthday fell on a weekday, I had just planned on staying low-key, then maybe take myself out during the weekend and celebrate myself but upon getting to the office, I received so many happy birthday wishes from friends and colleagues, I felt really good, I kept saying thank you, thank you, and smiling until I almost exhausted all the thank you in my mouth, but it felt nice.
Later on, some of my colleagues treated us to lunch to celebrate the day, we had rice and drinks, I still kept saying “thank you”, because I didn’t expect any of the special treatment, seeing as it was my first birthday in my new job. There was a friend of mine at the office who kept telling everyone who cared to listen that today was my birthday, she was like the broadcaster of the birthday hehe.
I also received other cash and physical gifts from friends and colleagues, my phone kept buzzing at every instant, with messages and calls, and my alumni groups on WhatsApp, were not left out, as wishes kept pouring out from there also.
When I got home in the evening, I began reminiscing on the events of the day and also my life, this past year has been one that has taken me not exactly to where I ought to be, but it has taken me somewhere, from where I used to be, and for that I am grateful. I am grateful for the years to come, I’m expectant of more glorious years to celebrate with my friends and family.
Thank you for stopping by💕💕💕
