Hello friends, happy new week.
Well for me, I am starting the week with the weekly prompt of the @ladiesofhive community. Do well to join here
Being a woman is not easy as some challenges we experience are hormonal imbalance due to menstruation, pregnancy and menopause.
I'm still a young person who has only experienced menstruation and in future will experience pregnancy and at an older age menopause.
Menopause is a period where a woman is aged and cannot conceive again.
Even during menses I know what I experience that period, the cramps, the mood swings , and loss of appetite. Sometimes when the pain becomes unbearable I take pain relief to help me a little.
I don't know how the body works but menses can really have a lot of effects on your mental health like being sad or angry over little things that normally I shouldn't be. Those periods I decide to be alone and indoors so I don't do things I might regret later when I feel much better.
Here are some practical ways I take care of my mental and physical health during menstruation:
Eat healthy:
Even an hungry person is an angry person. During menses or pregnancy it is advisable to eat healthy food that includes a balanced diet and fruits. It helps your hormones replace blood that's removed from your body and helps the child in case of pregnancy .
Exercise:
When I am on my menses I notice if I am just indoors on the bed I experience more pains when I am outside being busy. Same with pregnancy, it is advisable to exercise yourself so you won't be in so much pain.
Quality sleep:
You need to have a good amount of sleep to help you regulate your mood and also help you energy.
If I notice I'm having mood swings I prefer to relax my mind and do something fun like listening to music.
Also taking my bath frequently helps me feel refreshed.
