Christmas is a time when we usually eat a lot, at least in my country (Venezuela). Show us beautiful photographs of the typical dishes you prepare for Christmas dinner or to welcome the new year, and what is your favorite?
(If you celebrate a holiday other than Christmas, please talk of it, instead!)
One of the most common dish we see during the festive periods of Christmas or new year is fried meats, meet from chickens, turkey, beef, bushmeat, goats and so on. There are many dishes made during these periods which include fried rice, jollof rice, pounded yam, salad and so on. But for the purpose of the weekly prompt by the @ladiesofhive community, chicken is a common delicacy during this period.
This year was a really tough one for people as the economic situation affected every individual negatively, the prices of goods and services trippled making it difficult for people to afford what would make their festivity a great one. Hence, the price of chickens skyrocketed from #5k to #10k to a whooping #20k to #30k. This was due to the fact that, the farmers or rearers complained that the price of chicken was too expensive and the maintenance in general brought about the surge in the price.
But in all, some people were still able to afford something, so as to be able to celebrate with family and friends. The chicken we bought was medium as we did not have the opportunity to rear one. When we got it, we brought it home, killed it, boiled water and removed the feathers. After this, we pieced it accordingly in various sizes and boiled it with enough spices to taste. Then we proceeded to fry it.
This would go alongside the fried rice we intend to make as we got the necessary ingredients of green peas, green pepper, carrots, spring onions etc alongside salad.
