Greetings dear Ladies, I join Contest # 82 to answer the question of the week. I invite @jessiencasa @belkyscabrera to participate
¿Qué piensa sobre la forma en que se ha tratado a las mujeres en el pasado y cómo se las trata ahora?
What are your thoughts on the way women have been treated in the past, and how women are being treated now?
As explained in the preamble to the question, in the past there were many limitations that women had, things like voting or working were not allowed, however, this can vary depending on the culture in which the woman is born, even in the Currently there are cultures and religions that do not allow women to work outside the home and that also force them to marry at a very young age without being able to say no, there are people who think that this only happens in Islamic cultures, but also in other times it happens, many times these situations are products of a social structure that discriminates against and impoverishes certain social groups, for example in Latin America many indigenous peoples have the custom of marrying or selling their daughters for marriage, this is mainly due to the ancestral practice of receiving a dowry for girls after their first menstruation, but this practice continued because after colonization many of these people of this culture live in poverty, in addition problems such as drug trafficking are common in the border areas where they live and there women are subjected to many mistreatments, I say this because when it comes to arranged marriages or sale of women it is believed that it only happens in distant countries and it is not like that, this is a problem still in force worldwide and the reasons may vary but the result is always the same "trade with the lives of women"
In the past, women were always played for their appearance and today that problem persists, although many women enjoy fashion trends, makeup and the general norm of what society considers according to what is feminine, including those cultures where It is not about makeup but about covering her face, the point is that the appearance of the woman will always be judged and although it is about breaking that habit, it seems more entrenched every day, when a woman goes out of what was agreed she is immediately attacked, well be it verbally or even questioning her morals and as if that were not enough, society questions the ability of a woman to hold any position based on her appearance, the appearance of the woman continues to be an object of consumption, then injustice prevails at all levels, even at the judicial level, when a woman files a complaint of harassment, she is judged by the way she dresses and the responsibility of the attacker and in some cases it is worse when it comes to a rape complaint, I still remember with anger how in a case of gang rape that was recorded in a video of evidence in Spain in the trial the victim was judged for wearing a thong 🤦♀️ so in my opinion this society does things with its hands that it then destroys with its feet.
In the workplace, the appearance of women is still key, if a woman does not have "good looks" they do not offer positions of power even if they have an admirable resume, on the other hand, common jobs such as sales positions are always offered for women because they have the belief that only women can attract customers, just mentioning that makes me a little sick, also the age gap is incredible, I remember once being in a store and seeing a job ad, it said that it was wanted girl for a salesperson position between 18 and 28 years old, coincidentally at that time I had turned 29 years old and I was with my friend @Yetsimar after university, I told my friend, you know, for this society I am an old woman who does not It's good for work, because if I wanted to work in that store, I can't do it anymore because I'm over the requested age, obviously I wasn't looking for a job, but seeing that ad made me angry, plus they're looking for preferential Probably single women without children, because in these jobs they do not want to hire women who become pregnant or who have children who could get sick and be a reason for them to miss work.
I feel that women continue to be mistreated, but the mistreatment in many cases can come disguised in a different way, so much so that a woman in my country cannot decide on her own body in terms of reproduction and if she is a young woman who wants to be sterilized by their own decision no doctor wants to do it until the woman has several children first, that is to say that a woman must have more than two children or present a serious illness to be able to pay for a sterilization voluntarily. So that women have the right to do it in this country is almost a lie when in reality no doctor is willing to do this procedure, this is how the laws that defend women work in many cases, the law exists but its compliance is always ambiguous and convenient only for people with economic power.
