For those who naturally have black hair, as we grow we might notice a change in the color of our hair. The rich blackness is no longer there
Out hair has two melanin pigments; eumlanin (dark) and phaeomelanin (light).
These two blend together in different proportions to create each person’s hair color.
Reason why your black hair appear brown
- Mineral components in water: Hard water contain minerals and metal such as calcium and sulphur which can be difficult for our hair to absorb enough moisture for a healthy look.
Sun: the rays of the sun are becoming harmful to our ecosystem due to global warming.
When our hair get exposed to sunlight the melanin in our hair gets bleached. Exposure of sunlight makes the hair look dull, or lighter.Bleach and chemicals: Black women use relaxer for their thick curly hair. Hair relaxers straighten hair by penetrating the cuticle and the cortex layers of the hair shaft to loosen the natural curl pattern. This process leaves the hair weak, brittle and prone to breakage.
Genetics: There can be a trend of hair color and texture among family members.i know of some friends who have sunny colored hair from birth. in some families young people grow grey hairs, weird right?😉.
