As a child birthdays are fun, we look forward to the celebrations and presents. Then comes the middle part of life where suddenly you don't want to celebrate birthdays. As if avoiding them would make them go away and we don't have to address growing older. Then we come to a certain age, and we are thankful for every year we make it around the sun.
We are truly a complicated bunch haha.
Anyways, I was there for such a celebration of life yesterday. And Bestie-K being a lover of flowers, wanted plenty around her and we went flower shopping.
In all honestly, I never cared for flowers. My parents however loved flowers. They preferred landed property with a garden where they can do their planting and pottering. Even now, we live in a highrise, but Dad has a corner where his green-fingers are busy doing their thing.
Mum used to ask friends and family for seeds or stems if something tickled her fancy. She has even tried her luck with plants from another country. It was her that planted the bougainvillaea in my balcony garden and I remember being a little upset that she had done it without checking with me first. Silly me, and thank goodness she did. One of the things that remind me of her.
Our national flower is the hibiscus. I have not seen a pink one before. The official one is red, and I have seen yellows but not pink.
My whims and fancies have definitely changed over the years. These days I actually appreciate flowers and have even tried planting some of my own. And I can safely say the Flower Lovers of Hive had something to do with it too :D
You can see more of this florist which has all kinds of flowers in the video 👇
