As a child birthdays are fun, we look forward to the celebrations and presents. Then comes the middle part of life where suddenly you don't want to celebrate birthdays. As if avoiding them would make them go away and we don't have to address growing older. Then we come to a certain age, and we are thankful for every year we make it around the sun.

We are truly a complicated bunch haha.

Anyways, I was there for such a celebration of life yesterday. And Bestie-K being a lover of flowers, wanted plenty around her and we went flower shopping.

In all honestly, I never cared for flowers. My parents however loved flowers. They preferred landed property with a garden where they can do their planting and pottering. Even now, we live in a highrise, but Dad has a corner where his green-fingers are busy doing their thing.

Mum used to ask friends and family for seeds or stems if something tickled her fancy. She has even tried her luck with plants from another country. It was her that planted the bougainvillaea in my balcony garden and I remember being a little upset that she had done it without checking with me first. Silly me, and thank goodness she did. One of the things that remind me of her.

Our national flower is the hibiscus. I have not seen a pink one before. The official one is red, and I have seen yellows but not pink.

My whims and fancies have definitely changed over the years. These days I actually appreciate flowers and have even tried planting some of my own. And I can safely say the Flower Lovers of Hive had something to do with it too :D

You can see more of this florist which has all kinds of flowers in the video 👇

Ahhhh... I love your National Flower, Hibiscus!
I remember my Mom would put a flower in my hair, almost every day....
it is either the plumeria or the hibiscus!

That's a precious memory <33

Your flowers are so beautiful and I love them as well

Thank you :D

I stopped counting my age after I reached 25 haha! The other week, we had our Annual Physical Exam and we're asked to write our age and damn! I forgot my it hahaha had to calculate 2022 minus my birth year haha

I have to agree that we're indeed complicated!

You didn't forget - it's just that you are still 25 ;D

Hahaha and it will stay at 25 forever LOL! 😁

I love that your friend surrounds herself with flowers! They evoke special emotions in people, in my opinion. They always make me feel so good. I am glad you have come to appreciate flowers as you have matured. I have too. I never knew I liked flowers so much until I started photographing them.

My mother surrounded our lives with them, it probably rubbed off from her. :) A lovely post. What is your favorite flower?

Perfect post for #alwaysaflower ❤️

My favourite flowers are Wild Lilies :D

Beautiful. If you’ve suddenly got a desire for florals, try planting a pot of sweet peas on your balcony. The fragrance will transform your life (I was actually dreaming about sweet pea perfume a few days ago, woke up with the memory all around me - now I can’t wait for autumn so I can plant them all over) 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

Ooooh, ok noted
I shall look for those on my next nursery day <33
