My Nightmare
My bedside clock appeared as a red blur; the numbers were still illegible before pulling off my sheets or maybe I just didn’t really care what time is. I slip on my housecoat and head to the kitchen to turn on the coffee maker. It was still dark and blustery outside. I staggered to my desk and yawned one more time before booting up my computer.

I couldn’t place the time of the Discord meeting or why it took place at LOH Voice channel at all. I scrolled down the list. It was a rare full conference. Thirty-nine of the now forty women strong LOH team meeting that has been underway for some time.
“It must be important.” I thought to myself, “I don’t recall any announcement.” I clicked on the Speaker icon.
My avatar appeared on the Voice channel thread.

A collective cheer erupted, “The Bloody Raven is here!” in a sarcastic but jovial tone.
Late as usual.
Silver Saver’s face appeared on the right top corner of my monitor, she adjusts the camera, backing away and twirls revealing her authentic Hula outfit. Behind her was a panoramic penthouse view of Honolulu and shoreline with Diamond Head looming in the distance. “Everything is almost ready.” Her cheerful voice came through just as the ribbing died down. “So, are you ready for the big Masquerade Tea Party Sis? ...sis are you feeling okay?”
With my brain still foggy I replied, “What Masquerade?”
There was a long pause before Thekittygirl’s video feed from her Lamborghini popped on screen, her voice came over my headphones, “What are you talking about Kerris? You planted the idea years ago and this has been the rage all over Hive since we all voted for our first Ladies of Hive Tea Party at the Hawaii Headquarters this Halloween! Wait, hold that thought, be-right-back!” She bought her car to a stop and powered down her window to a man in a gaudy shirt, "Aloha sir, my name's Kittygirl from Hive, may I take a few pictures of you Pineapple Barn?" Then the video cuts out.
“Wait, what’s going on?”
Another video box popped on screen, Irene, her mom and her son, “Hola! We’re inbound just 30 minutes away with a plane full of ladies from Venezuela, my son is anxious about the party. See you all soon!” She exclaimed with a grin.
Nina’s face pops up next to Irene’s. Wearing a headset with the roar of a jet-helicopter engine in the background. “YEEHAW! Nina-Air at your service! I’m a few minutes of dropping Saff, Joan and Elizabeth off at Headquarters and will be at the airport in another 45 minutes ETA Honolulu airport Pad 3. Kerris, I saw your pirate ship drop anchor in the bay, you not on it?”?
All the ladies were already in their best, eager and all inbound in various forms of travel including a chartered cruise ship flying the Hive logo flag.
One of the ladies pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose and leaned forward on the screen, “Kerris, why are you in curlers and a housecoat?
Chocolatescorpi tapped on her microphone, “Hon, you better get packed and fly over here and be ready inside 24 hours.”
“Oh, my god.” I wake up staring at my ceiling fan.
The Fallout
Up to now, my nightmare always took the form of me entering a college classroom to write an exam that I have never taken in any classes. An uneasy phobia of NOT being prepared for an unexpected or expected event. Replaying over again, I’d sit down at the same desk and stared at the illegible exam sheet. “It’s impossible!”, a wave of resignation and anxiety chills my soul before I woke up.
And now this nightmare took the form of an LOH meeting.
I learned from a psychiatric nurse how to deal with a nightmare is to share it.
