While some women wear stilleto and cocktail hat, I wear safety shoes and a hard hat...
Hello, beautiful ladies of Hive!
I may be a bit late but still, I'd like to greet every amazing lady in this wonderful community with a Happy International Women's Month!
Climbing the improvised steel ladder toward success was never a walk in the park. There have been quite several hazardous falling debris and unsafe areas to conquer before you reach the top. But I swear, it's all worth it.
My Papa was a construction worker. And having an everyday encounter with all those unsung heroes in this industry - the hardworking construction workers, and seeing how they've shed sweat, blood, and tears has strengthened my respect and how I look up to him even more. And here I am, walking in his footsteps, I hope I am making him proud (with him watching over me from heaven), that in a world run by men, I have learned to adapt in this challenging working environment for almost 15 years now. And yes, I guess I am destined to be here like it has long been blueprinted in my palms. I discovered my passion for drawing long before I started schooling. And never have I thought that I can use this passion from drawing building plans...
...into making those perspectives into a reality.
I am not an architect nor an engineer, but rather I am a proud drafts woman, working along with all the hardworking men in this industry.
I have also met and worked with all these amazingly strong independent women. We have built not just skyscrapers rising high in the city and shimmering alongside the brilliant city lights, but beautiful friendships and camaraderie as well.
In celebration of Women's month, it's good to share with you the challenging yet exciting journey which I have chosen to embark on - the intricate construction world, proving that we are not just women - WE ARE WOMEN!
I may be too far from where I wanted to be, but definitely, I've come too far from where I started.
The road to success may always be under construction but I am glad that I've chosen to take this path.
I am a woman - and I am quite proud I did it my way.
