It is always great and easy to say that we wanted healthy living, but putting it into action was hard. Self-discipline is a must, as temptation is always waving. Being surrounded back then by my workmates who always talked about their sugar levels and cholesterol made me conscious about my health. Most of the time, I wouldn't say I like eating fried foods, yet the irony. I love French fries and burgers 😂. However, as much as possible, I was on the road to healthy living.
What about now?
A misconception to others is that they thought that being a stay at home mother was great. Like we are having a vacation and having the best in our lives. Thus, in reality, it wasn't. For me, it was more tiring than working. At least after office hours, you can rest without interruption. On the contrary, being a Mom, you are working 24/7. Even asleep, my body would spring up if I heard my baby cry.
It would also be great to have someone who does the household chores. Then no financial problem. In my case, I am taking care of the baby, but no one takes care of me ☹️. So, in that case,
What are your go-to habits for staying healthy despite a busy schedule?
This is the question asked by @jane1289 for LOH contest 213.
As my son turns five months, he is much easier to care for, yet he has become too clingy. He often wanted me beside him, could not even hold my phone, or this would happen.
He would sometimes play in his crib or our bed, but if he wanted, he could just be held. That's the problem. How can I cook a healthy meal?
Egg will be my go-to food. It could be scrambled or boiled. It could be paired with morning rice or bread and a cup of coffee.
In some i seenstances, I ended up eating canned foods. However, to balance the nutrition, I would cook some veggies.
Green leafy vegetables, much easier to prepare.
Moringa as there are a lot in the backyard now. Thanks to my brother-in-law.
Lady finger that I forgot I had some in the fridge.
Malabar spinach Here in my husband's hometown, it is just grass. Only recently have they known it's edible.
Jew's mallow that others don't like to eat due to its texture. It was similar to Lady Finger.
Lastly, string beans.
How do I cook?
- Boiled water in a cooking pot.
- Add mashed garlic
- Once boiled, add the vegetable, based on which one takes time to cook.
- Okra, string beans, Jew's mallow, Malabar spinach, and Moringa.
- Add seasoning, salt, and black pepper for me.
Was it delicious?
If you are used to eating vegetables, yes, it is. If not, I bet you won't even dare to taste it.
If these vegetables aren't available, I will resort to different kinds. Thus, the cooking procedure would be the same.
Well, that's the truth: healthy foods aren't delicious for everyone. It depends on your taste buds.
Hello, Ladies of Hive! It's been a while since I participated in the community contest. Glad I was able to this week.
