As a woman, life can be pretty hectic most of the time, especially when your days are filled up with various tasks to carry out. Be it a married lady or a single lady, there will always be a period that is choked up with activities that leave you strained and exhausted. My days have been pretty hectic ever since I gained admission to the East and have to live with my aunt.
Juggling serious morning house chores, and tending to her business after school has not been easy. Then going home late to more chores and stress has been exhausting. I hardly rest, even on weekends. Furthermore, Universities in my country can be very stressful, as an Agricultural student, the farming practicals and assignments, projects e.t.c are exhausting.
People tend to think women are magically born with the spirit of multi-tasking, and even though it gets the job done it leaves women feeling depleted. The stress can lead to a breakdown physically mentally or emotionally. Initially, the stress made me angry almost all the time, I couldn't handle it.
But over the years I discovered ways to help myself rest.
How do I overcome exhaustion?
-When I get exhausted, I pack up a few things and spend some days somewhere peaceful, sometimes 3 days or more of rest helps me go back to my usual bubbly self. I either visit my other relations or I stay with friends. But if it happens that I can't leave the house. I simply do the ones I can handle and rest in my room. Whatever I couldn't handle that day would be sorted tomorrow.
-Another thing I do to help ease my stress is listen to music or watch comedy movies. Laughing is a good stress reliever, and it helps relax my mind from over thinking or stressing about things that need to be done. I also talk to myself to calm my nerves, it's more like I recite positive mantras to myself to help me relax and not see the stress I'm going through as a burden.
-Lastly, on other days, I just lie down and sleep for hours. I make sure I will not be disturbed by anyone, then I read a novel, and eventually fall asleep. I found out that I wake up feeling better and stronger so I do it more often these days . These are some things I do to rejuvenate myself physically, mentally and emotionally.
