Un cordial saludo Damas y Caballeros, miembros activos de esta comunidad. Contenta de estar aquí de nuevo para participar en el Concurso #181 con la interrogante:

2️⃣ "Las mujeres son propensas a la depresión y la ansiedad" ~ Las mujeres tienen el doble de probabilidades que los hombres de experimentar depresión y trastornos de ansiedad. En las mujeres entran en juego diferentes factores: las fluctuaciones hormonales, las transiciones de la vida, las presiones sociales y la predisposición genética contribuyen a un mayor riesgo. ¿Cómo superamos las mujeres los sentimientos persistentes de tristeza, ansiedad, irritabilidad, cambios en el apetito o en los patrones de sueño y posiblemente pérdida de interés en las actividades?

Mucho que compartir y socializar con esta interrogante. Yo, no soy la excepción, en mayor o menor medida, he estado expuesta a los factores de riesgo referidos y a estos se suman los condicionantes del ejercicio profesional, como médico. Y es que mi actividad involucra con frecuencia largas jornadas de trabajo, en menoscabo del sueño y descanso. En ocasiones, comidas aceleradas en horarios inadecuados, socavando además la actividad física. Asimismo, se adiciona la necesidad imperante de un rendimiento óptimo, con mayor autoexigencia y sentido de responsabilidad, todo un sobreesfuerzo físico y mental.

A lo largo de mi camino, he tenido momentos felices, pero también muy tristes, llenos de vacíos, vacilaciones e incertidumbres. Sé lo que es el desánimo, la tristeza, la irritabilidad y la decepción, he pasado por una amplia gama de sentimientos, tal vez como tú, pero eso no nos convierte en depresivas o ansiosas, somos mujeres reales, en acontecimientos o situaciones que forman parte de la vida, de la experiencia humana, del viaje existencial. La perfección es utopía, la vida es compleja, convulsa, disímil y en ella andamos.

Estimadas Damas, todas tenemos un caldo de cultivo, con los ingredientes necesarios para enfermar de depresión y ansiedad. Sí, la depresión y la ansiedad son enfermedades como la hipertensión, la obesidad o la diabetes mellitus, e involucran los sentimientos que he mencionado, pero dos características son esenciales para convertirse en enfermedad y son la persistencia en el tiempo de los síntomas, lo que en consecuencia afecta significativamente nuestras acciones en la vida diaria, principalmente con limitaciones para llevar el hogar, el trabajo y las relaciones sociales.

Debo advertir que esto es lo florido y característico, lo que se ve; sin embargo, puede ocurrir que estas patologías se instalen de manera solapada o enmascarada, consciente o inconscientemente en el paciente, avanzando rápidamente día a día, deteriorando a la persona que la padece y distanciando desproporcionadamente la posibilidad de intervención y ayuda. En este escenario, estas enfermedades se apoyan en el "disfraz" externo de bienestar, de una felicidad que no se experimenta ni se siente y lo que es más grave, en la ausencia de expresiones psicológicas que permitan identificar y reconocer la enfermedad.

Entonces, ¿qué hacemos y cómo lo afrontamos? Sin dudarlo, te digo que depende de nosotras actuar y buscar la armonía necesaria, desde el amor propio, para nosotras y nuestros seres queridos. Sé que somos únicas e irrepetibles, pero quizás mi experiencia pueda serte útil. En las siguientes líneas, mencionaré a mis aliados, potenciadores y regeneradores del equilibrio, acompáñame.

La que siempre me acompaña ante la vida, positiva y auténtica, es la actitud. Gracias a ello tengo la disposición y el coraje para enfrentar las situaciones de la vida diaria, es mi visión, mi incitación a la superación. Interviene en mis acciones y contribuye favorablemente en mis emociones, genera en mí la conciencia de la selección de atención, qué valorar y de qué mofarme, para desechar e ignorar. Potencia el disfrute, el bienestar y el crecimiento en los acontecimientos que vivo. Siempre dinámica y enérgica, en todo lo que hago, fortalece mi apertura a la evolución y al cambio, a la flexibilidad, siempre impulso e inspiración.

Priorizo lo saludable, a través de un estilo en un entorno favorable. Es decir que, con compromiso, pretendo fortalecer en dinamismo la construcción de mi salud para contribuir a mi bienestar, con patrones de comportamiento en nutrición, actividad física y acción mental. Mi equilibrio saludable requiere un entorno que sume y no reste, un hogar, una calle, una comunidad, una sociedad y un entorno laboral en sintonía y sincronía. Sé que no será lo ideal, pero son mis acciones las que deben acercarme a lo que quiero, mi bienestar y felicidad dependen de ello. Es mi actitud ante la vida.

Siempre atenta y vigilante a los mensajes de mi cuerpo, cultivo el contacto frecuente con amigos y familiares, es energía y positividad. Ante los sobresaltos y las sacudidas, intento mantener la calma y apreciar la situación. Si me siento insegura o incapaz de salir adelante por mí misma, busco ayuda en mi familia y amigos, comparto mis sentimientos y obtengo el apoyo y la orientación que tanto necesito. También estaré ahí para ellos o para cualquiera que me necesite y pueda acudir a mí en busca de apoyo. Hasta ahora no he merecido ayuda profesional, pero si la necesitara, no dudaría en pedirla.

También potencia y regenera mi equilibrio, las dinámicas positivas, entre las que puedo mencionar disfrutar de un paseo o una caminata, registrar momentos agradables a través de la fotografía, compartir cariño, congraciarme durante horas con mi mundo verde, aprender nuevos oficios, en fin, tantas cosas que se pueden hacer. Si me relajan y me agradan, les doy la bienvenida. Trabajo mucho, pero mis espacios de relajación y ocio no son negociables, salvo alguna eventualidad que requiera su suspensión temporal. Cuando tengo la oportunidad de dormir, lo hago sin miramientos, me lo tomo en serio. Mi mente y mi cuerpo lo agradecen.

La mejor vacuna contra la depresión y la ansiedad, es el autoestima y el respeto por uno misma. Reconocer que debo cuidarme y satisfacer mis necesidades. Nunca exaltar lo negativo, ni precipitarme con conjeturas ante los acontecimientos. El objetivo es ser feliz, yo lo hago desde la sencillez, sin exquisiteces ni grandes exigencias.

2️⃣ "Women are prone to depression and anxiety" ~ Women are twice as likely as men to experience depression and anxiety disorders. Different factors come into play with women: hormonal fluctuations, life transitions, societal pressures, and genetic predisposition all contribute to increased risk. How do we women overcome persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, irritability, changes in appetite or sleep patterns, and possibly loss of interest in activities?

Always together attitude


There is much to share and socialize with this question. I am not the exception, to a greater or lesser extent, I have been exposed to the risk factors referred to and to these are added the conditioning factors of my professional practice, as a physician. My activity often involves long working days, to the detriment of sleep and rest. Sometimes, accelerated meals at inappropriate times, also undermine physical activity. In addition, there is the imperative need for optimal performance, with greater self-demand and sense of responsibility, a physical and mental overexertion.

Throughout my journey, I have had happy moments, but also very sad ones, full of emptiness, hesitations, and uncertainties. I know what discouragement, sadness, irritability, and disappointment are, I have gone through a wide range of feelings, perhaps like you, but that does not make us depressed or anxious, we are real women, in events or situations that are part of life, of the human experience, of the existential journey. Perfection is utopia, life is complex, convulsive, dissimilar and we walk in it.

Dear ladies, we all have a breeding ground, with the necessary ingredients to become ill with depression and anxiety. Yes, depression and anxiety are diseases like hypertension, obesity, or diabetes mellitus, and involve the feelings I have mentioned, but two characteristics are essential to becoming a disease and they are the persistence over time of the symptoms, which consequently significantly affects our actions in daily life, mainly with limitations to run the house, work, and social relationships.

I must warn that this is the flowery and characteristic, of what is seen, however, these pathologies may be installed in an underhand or masked way, consciously or unconsciously in the patient, advancing rapidly day by day, deteriorating the person who suffers from it and disproportionately distancing the possibility of intervention and help. In this scenario, these diseases are supported by the external "disguise" of well-being, of a happiness that is neither experienced nor felt, and what is more serious, by the absence of psychological expressions that allow the disease to be identified and recognized.

So what do we do and how do we deal with it? Without hesitation, I tell you that it is up to us to act and seek the necessary harmony, from self-love, for ourselves and our loved ones. I know we are unique and unrepeatable, but perhaps my experience can be useful to you. In the following lines, I will mention my allies, enhancers, and regenerators of balance, come join me.

The one that always accompanies me in the face of life, positive and authentic is the attitude. Thanks to it I have the disposition and the courage to face the situations of daily life, it is my vision, my incitement to overcome. It intervenes in my actions and contributes favorably to my emotions, it generates in me the conscience of the selection of attention, what to value, and what to mock to discard and ignore. It enhances enjoyment, well-being, and growth in the events I experience. Always dynamic and energetic, in everything I do, strengthens my openness to evolution and change, to flexibility, always impulse and inspiration.

I prioritize the healthy, through a style in a favorable environment. That is to say that, with commitment, I intend to strengthen in dynamism the construction of my health to contribute to my well-being, with behavioral patterns in nutrition, physical activity, and mental action. My healthy balance requires an environment that adds and does not subtract, a home, a street, a community, a society, and a work environment in sync and synchrony. I know it will not be ideal, but it is my actions that must bring me closer to what I want, my well-being and happiness depend on it. It is my attitude towards life.

Always attentive and vigilant to my body's messages, I cultivate frequent contact with friends and family, its energy, and positivity. In the face of shocks and jolts, I try to remain calm and appreciate the situation. If I feel insecure or unable to cope on my own, I seek help from family and friends, share my feelings, and get the support and guidance I so desperately need. I will also be there for them or for anyone who needs me and can see me for support. So far I have not deserved professional help, but if I needed it, I would not hesitate to ask for it.

It also enhances and regenerates my balance, the positive dynamics, among which I can mention enjoying a walk or a hike, recording pleasant moments through photography, sharing affection, ingratiating myself for hours with my green world, learning new trades, in short, so many things that can be done. If they relax and please me, I welcome them. I work a lot, but my spaces for relaxation and leisure are non-negotiable, except for some eventuality that requires their temporary suspension. When I have the opportunity to sleep, I do it without regard, I take it seriously. My mind and body thank me for it.

The best vaccine against depression and anxiety is self-esteem and self-respect. Recognize that I must take care of myself and meet my needs. never exalt the negative, nor rush with conjectures in the face of events. The goal is to be happy, I do it from simplicity, without delicacies or great demands.
