Let it snow

A fresh snowfall always makes my house look like it is snuggled in for the winter.

Overcast, gloomy days are typical here at this time of year, but the visits from the birds and wildlife help make this time of year cheerier!

I wondered if the snow would stop the neighbor's free range chickens from wandering over to spend the day in my yard. But it appears that they are not going to let a little snow slow them down!

I'm quite happy to settle in for another winter in the woods! My pantry is well stocked and I have all of you to keep me entertained. I'm looking forward to an exciting new year on HIVE!

The chickens have a coop and they can go home if they get hungry. They do come running and expect me to toss them a handful of oatmeal if they see me outdoors.

Do you oblige them, lol? I used to have chickens some years ago; even one that was a special pet, but unfortunately, something decided they were tasty. I haven't had any more since as I got tired of burying them. I miss the fresh eggs! Take care!

Ahhhh were just a few miles north of the big storm hitting DC today! Sad we haven’t seen much of any flakes this season yet..., I always enjoy snow.

It snowed here today, about 4 hours. 3 of those hours it snowed very hard and beautifully. The last hour, the flakes just swirled and twirled and danced around in the air before landing on the ground.

The thing is, it has been 70 degrees or more here for about 5 days in a row before, so the ground was too warm and once the snow slowed down, what was on the ground slowly vanished as if it had never happened.

Still... it was fun seeing it come down. There is a window beside my work desk and I was able to see the snow show as I worked. It was so nice.

I love how you have all the wild life and how you enjoy it and share.

Happy New Year @melinda010100 , after a month of being absent, I'm back!!!! Today reading your post, what a beautiful landscape. I have never touched snow, so your pictures look magical to me.

Here in the tropics, where I live there is quite warm, I can send you a little bit !!!!

hahaha for the chickens there is no snow to stop them from visiting you! It's comforting to know you're stocked up and don't have to go out in the cold outside.
