Just a few days to go before we say welcome to the year 2023 and I must admit that this year is fast. I can remember clearly the first day in the month of January and soon we will
What do you plan to do on the 31st right at midnight?
This is the first question asked this week in the Ladies of Hive contest.

With God sparing my life, my plan for the night the new year is a very simple one. I intend to go to church for crossover service this year together with my family as we have always done in the previous years. The time has already been fixed and announced. It is starting late at night—10 PM and finishing in the early hours of the morning–4AM.
Here in Nigeria, it is although not compulsory but very necessary for all Christians to go to church. You can choose to stream it online. The time each church starts and finishes vary. Some go home once it is some minutes past 12Am while some turn theirs into a night vigil and close the next morning just like my church.
The upcoming crossover service is going to be full of joyful praise and singing with a lot of dancing. It is mostly based on giving thanks. So on the midnight of the 31st of December, I will count my blessings one after the other and thank God for His faithfulness over me and that of my loved ones because it has been Him all the way.
At the midnight on that day, I will hug and shake as many people I can. I will congratulate them because e all made it to that year. Since I will be in church, it means I will be congratulating my fellow church members.
Dancing mindlessly is part of what I will do in church. Even though I don't really know how to dance, still I will make sure I dance very well and try every dance steps I know. Even if it is to jump, shake my body and move from place to place.
Another thing I would do on that day is to be online most especially on my social apps. I will post 'we made it!!!'. Then I will post a picture that I would have taken the day before the new year with a caption: me in 2022 versus me in 2023. I will quickly post this since I will be in the church and I won't want ushers to tell me to keep my phone.
What plans do you have for January 1st? (This is the second question)

Since I will be going back home from church in the morning, sleeping is going to be the first on my list. I know people who sleep on important days like that may be seen as boring people but I can't help it afterall, I have been awake all night.
Once I'm awake, I will stay home to cook and eat with my family. A few of my uncles and cousins will also be coming over and spending time with them will be great. My sister that got married mid this year also said she will be visiting. I can't wait to see her 🤭
Also, I will be doing a lot of calling and messaging on that day. I will try wishing everyone I can a happy new year and a great year ahead.
My friends and I are also contemplating going out on that day. We have still not decided on which to go to—a mall or a restaurant. But we are thinking of moving it to the second day because a lot of these fun places will be crowded with people and it will be too Jam-packed.
If eventually my friends and I go out, by the time I return back home, I will make sure I put on paper my goals for the new year—academic, spiritual, financial, physical and social goals. Knowing what one wants, writing it down and working towards it will surely help.
This is how I imagine the 31st of December and the 1st of January to be like for me.
Thanks for reading Ladies. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you in advance 🥰
