Well I love to be respected , I do not want people to look down on me just because I am a lady , I do not want to get unfair treatment at my place of work or in my career simply because I am a lady , I do not want to be disrespected because of my gender , and I do not want a situation whereby someone will get ranked higher than me just only because I am a lady etc..
So yes I do not have issues with the idea of gender equality, infact I support the idea but I have issues with the hypocrisy that some people display towards gender equality , for example I was discussing with my colleague at work and she was ranting about how she invited her man over for a dinner at a restaurant , then after they were done with the dinner , her man told her to assist him with the bills and she said HELL no because according to her , it is the duty of the man to pay the bills...
I was like oh really , who created the rules that it is a man that must always pay the bills on a date , moreover you invited him over for the date and I told her there is nothing wrong if you also pay for a date with your man.. , you want gender equality yet you still believe it is a man that must only do some certain things while the woman should just fold her hands and do nothing the time...As for me if you want gender equality then you should practice what you preach by not making it look like a certain gender should be the only one doing some certain things, if you have such mentality that a certain gender should be the only one doing some certain things then it means you have no business with gender equality because you are not ready to practice what you preach....
You cannot be selective when preaching gender equality , gender equality should apply to every areas of life and should not only be applied only when it favours you , when it becomes selective then it is hypocrisy....
