Simpler times or modern times-- LOH contest #81

in #hive-1244523 years ago

Hello guys... Here's my entry to the LOH contest #81 and I'll be answering the question below;

Do you ever wish for simpler times, or do you prefer the modern 'techy' world of today? Which would you choose to live by, and why?

The times when I was growing up as a young girl with my mum at our hometown are very different from now.
Then, people lived very simple lifestyle and seemed pretty satisfied with just the basic things of life.
We never had a TV set and my mum only had a small phone with which to communicate with my dad who lived in a different state.

There was no single gadget at home, not even electricity was available but we could hardly feel like anything was missing.

We cultivated and ate fresh foods harvested straight from our farm. We participated in every part of my mum's farm work.

My siblings and I had a lot of time to bond together. I have several beautiful memories with each of my siblings. We played simple games and would read stories from novels outside our door at night under the moonlight. We cooked with firewood and charcoal mostly. We pounded with mortar and pestle and we also had this earthen pot in our house.

We poured drinking water into this pot and no matter how hot the weather is, water from this pot was always cold and had a unique taste that gives this unique satisfaction.

Fast forward to today, this modern, techy world we now live in. There are gadgets everywhere. Everyone of us have mobile phones, we have TV set now, fridge, blender and we cook with a gas cooker.

No doubt, things have been made quite easy with the introduction of technology but at what cost?
There's so much toxicity everywhere which has resulted in several deadly diseases.

The physical bonding is hardly there.
We no longer read to one another. When my siblings are all back home, we leave the TV for my dad to watch the news while we all retire to different corners of the house pressing our mobile phones.

We no longer eat freshly harvested foods anymore but processed foods with lots of additives.

People have forgotten where "home" is, people have forgotten what spending quality time with family and friends feels like..

I miss and wish for the days of the simple life. If I'm to choose, I'll definitely choose that over and over again because the simpler life is what feels real, original and authentic to me. The modern "techy" world seems like an illusion that us sadly taking us away from what really matters.

So... The simple life I would choose, definitely!

Thanks so much for reading through.

At this point, I would invite @ozohu to take part in this contest.

Bye for now🤗🤗

Happy and good memories of simpler times indeed! Things changed much through time and with the advent of modern tech and gadgets though make things easier and more convenient, it also has its disadvantages towards people's lives and behavior.

Exactly.. We paid a huge price for comfort

We did... Happy weekend to you❤

And you too!😘

There is a lot to be said for both worlds, but you mentioned the food we now eat and all the additives. I agree! I believe that the root to a lot of today's illnesses are linked to our food supply. Genetically modified was done so that a certain weedkiller would kill all the weeds but not the plant they were trying to grow! That means we eat that same weedkiller and it's a very much added plant to a lot of foods! It's sad. The only way to control that is grow what we eat or be sure that what we buy is non-GMO and that it's truly organic. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day!

Yes.. But it seems like going back to depending on natural foods alone might not be possible anymore. We've come a long way and despite the adverse effects of these foods, lot of people might not be willing to let them go.

Thanks for engaging @elizabethbit
Have a lovely day as well🤗
