1️⃣ What is your most embarrassing moment that you can't forget?
It happened in 2003, when I was twelve years old. The big day arrived, I had not traveled by plane before now, hence, my first flight. I became a little excited and nervous because I was traveling alone to spend three weeks with my cousins, who were waiting for me. My Mum dropped me off at the airport and assisted with check-in and other formalities. We exchanged hugs, and I was on my way. We boarded, and I took my seat next to a window because I like to look out the window [habit from road trips].
That's when the drama began. First, I had difficulty fastening my seat belt, and I was the only one in my row due to the small number of passengers onboard. When the airhostess noticed my difficulty, she stepped in and assisted me with a smile. We then took off. My entire organs felt like they were going to burst through my mouth, but I held it all in.
I was only a few minutes into the journey when I realized I needed to get some fresh air as i can be cluster-phobic. As a result, I began looking for a way to open the window. But I couldn't. I noticed that some of the passengers were staring at me in amazement. Then the same hostess who had helped earlier was nearby. I asked her to show me where the window lock was so I could open it. When the other passengers heard this, they burst out laughing. I realized something had gone wrong, and I felt embarrassed. The air hostess was courteous enough to respond simply,
"the windows of a plane cannot be opened for all our safety."
That's when I realized it was extremely embarrassing😩. The flight was for an hour long, and all the way, and I could not look at other passengers cause I felt so embarrassed, can call it the longest journey of my life😂. I told my family the story when we landed and they too laughed hard (so fair enough, those were good people on plane too😅), I'll never forget this event, as my family has made it their lives mission to remind me every now and then when we onboard a plane.
This experience taught me that everyone has a first time doing something, and it's okay to be clueless. Another thing I learned, which I now do every time I travel, is to assist people, particularly children seated near me, if I notice they require assistance. Now that I think about it, it's hilarious, Like Who opens a plane window 3000 feet above the ground?🤣
> 2️⃣ What is the story behind your Hive username?
The story behind my Hive username isn't particularly huge; QUEEN+STARR is simply a combination of my name and a touch of royalty. I adore the name; it's meaningful, fancy and unique.
This is my Entry to the Ladies of Hive Contest #65 and I invite @pinkfurby a gifted artist whom I recently connected with to come join in the contest as I'm curious to know about her Hive username
"PINKFURBY", Interesting choice, what's the story my friend?😄
Thank you to the @ladiesofhive for this great initiative and @saffisara for this weeks awesome questions.
