HER body became an apartment for nine months. She woke up everyday with such profound joy knowing that she had a life growing inside of her,an entire human being residing inside her.

HER Joy knew no bounds as she counted secs into hours, days into weeks and weeks into months awaiting the arrival of her MOST PRECIOUS ONE.As much as she was thrilled with the idea of having her chil
d, she couldn't help but feel a little bit of fear because she realized she was responsible for another person's life.
Then the day came,on a rainy night, the rain poured down like never before,It was like the sky was in a very generous mood that night because it rained so hard like it would never stop.HER contractions kicked in,it was the most painful thing she had ever felt but she was glad as well cos she knew her MOST PRECIOUS ONE was here.
A while later, the most beautiful creature was born, but HER,She just wasn't sure or knew how or why she didn't want a baby she had looked forward to meeting,a baby she had picked names for,she had bought matching outfits, made plans to take this child to certains but now...she just doesn't want to touch this child.
At first, It felt like it was would go away after a while but 6 months passed and she didn't want to her child,it was almost like she loathed her own child. The doctor said it go away, her husband said"give it time" but it still didn't go away.
The one time she went out with her child,SHE needed to get some seasoning cubes from the store down the road, she was preparing stew and then she realized that the seasoning cubes were finished and there was no one at home to watch her child so she had to take her along.
Getting to the store then, her child starts to cry and she didn't know what to do then a woman walks up to her and said "Madam won't you give this baby breast or are you shy??" Then another woman says"Don't mind all these modern day mothers they don't like to breast-feed outside".HER managed to stand there long enough to buy the cubes and she hurried back home.
POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION, that's what the specialist called it after one whole, long, tiring hour, one hour of countless questions and answers, one whole hour of HER mother looking at her like she was Mad.It felt like it would never end but then this doctor who HER wasn't sure If he was light or dark skinned but she was definitely sure he wasn't handsome told her that she was going through postpartum depression.
Now, for HER's mother, she could have sworn that this doctor was either a quack or he was drunk. It made no sense to her how a mother loathed her own child and then this doctor whose skin had been bleached sat there and told her "It is normal,it happens to other women too".
What do you recommend or suggest that she does? HER's mother asked.
Well...the doctor replied
It's not a death sentence,I would recommend therapy.
So we should pay somebody to sit and listen to our problems ???
HER's mother asked with a frown
She will be speaking with a professional who will help her through this phase
The doctor responded.
Well, I guess we just have to try
HER'mother concluded.
A few days later,HER was off to her first therapy session and that was the beginning of her walk to freedom.
