What sacrifice does the husband make to the wife while she covers her whole body except with him?
I am not a preacher of feminism because even the Bible (I'm a Christian, please, just to mention) mentioned in 1 Cor 1: 2-3; “Now I praise you, Brethren, that you remember me in all things and keep the traditions of just as I delivered them if you. But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God”.
The Bible also added in the book of Genesis 1:27; “So God created man in his image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he creates them”
So Biblically, the men are the house but in the book of Matthew 7:12; God gave a law “Therefore whatever you desire men to do to you, you shall also do to them”.
This is exactly my point, Why give out what you can't take?
Why make a woman cover her hair all the days of her life while you go about living freely?.
All I'm saying is this law should be made more flexible. There should be room for self-decision. I didn't think I can even live in or visit a country where women are made to conform to laws against their will and not even for their benefit.
Yesterday, I had a conversation with my friend, Shukura who is a Muslim. She is a course mate that I've known for about 4 years now. She's from Osun State, a western part of Nigeria. This is my friend's take on the matter and I perfectly agree with her.
In Nigeria, these laws are not rigid. According to my friend, no one is forced to follow the law as it is between you and your God. Quite relieving. These are some pictures of our conversation yesterday.
I think to help women living in such a situation, there should be flexibility in the law where women have a say to matters of their bodies. More awareness should be created of the essence of wearing a hijab (adding the fact that it's a law from Allah so judgment should not be carried out by a man).
Judgment should be by Allah.
Just for clarification, here is the response of my friend.
Proper education on the male child will help curb this issue of imposition. Male children should be properly informed about these laws. They need to understand that women too have rights and hence have a decision against their bodies.
Also, women should be taught about their fundamental human rights, especially the right to speak, and the right from fear. Women should be well-educated on these rights especially, from a young age.
Lastly, Certain law organizations should be set up to punish anyone who imposes this law on a woman against her will. The awareness of these organizations and the proper parenting of boys and girls will go a long way in saving this situation.
Thank you.
PS: The highlighted passages in this article are from the holy Bible, and the pictures of the conversation are screenshots from WhatsApp, using my phone.
Again, following the instructions of the amiable judge for this week @thekittygirl, I won't be inviting any lady to join the contest. Thank you for your time. Please do well to share your thoughts in the comment section.
